PGD

Does anyone have any experience with doing IVF for PGD rather than specifically for infertility. Sorry if this is the wrong place for this topic.

My husband has a rare dominant genetic condition which can cause significant disability and limit life expectancy to the extent of causing sudden death in childhood. I would rather not be more specific about the condition because it would be too identifying.

We had decided to start a family via PGD and had a first appointment in early March last year. Unfortunately everything has stalled since then because of the pandemic. We are hoping to restart soon but I am finding the delay really hard, especially as so many people I know seem to be having babies so easily.

Has anyone been through PGD? Would you feel comfortable sharing your story?

I haven’t been through PGD, but tested my embryos for aneuploidy recently, so maybe a similar process in the sense of waiting for the results and then having some embryos which will not be used etc. From your description PGD definitely sounds like the right decision. Are you NHS or private, that’s a long wait you’ve had, are the clinic moving things along for you now?
