I'm waiting to start my next FET, but have received an invite to book my vaccine due. I'll be contacting my consultant, but would be I here's her go see what other peoples consultants / clinics have said re getting it and / or whether they then need to wait before proceeding.

Hi @okokok000 this has been discussed on a couple of threads already. I’m a doctor and got my first dose a few weeks ago, this is the beat option to provide protection for myself, any future pregnancy and everyone I come into contact with.

There is no biologically plausible mechanism for it affecting fertility or a pregnancy. So I fully support getting it.

I can’t see why a clinic would want to wait until both doses to proceed, that makes no sense for me. My second dose is likely to fall during my next FET cycle and I’m fine with that. The only issue I’ve seen raised is that it’s possible to get a high temperature as a side effect of the vaccine, so avoid having it right before a procedure as they may take your temperature at your clinic and get worried that you have covid.

Some clinics may have their own recommendations, but I think the majority opinion now is that it's safe to have at any point in TTC or an IVF cycle, so if you're offered it and it's not contraindicated for another reason, it's probably best to get it. Always check with your own healthcare team first though before making a medical decision - they'll know your specific circumstances and be able to advise you best.

I'm in Scotland and the guidance up here is that it's fine to have the vaccine. The only suggestion they make is that you don't have it within 2 weeks of your treatment, purely because the side effects can be flu-like symptoms and they might halt your cycle because these side effects mimic covid (just like @Gardenlady543 said 😉).

I've had both jabs and didn't get flu-like side effects, but everyone's different. My health board did very kindly bring my second dose forward so as not to clash with the FET cycle I'm now doing, which I'm extremely grateful for.

I should have clarified that I'm actually recently recovered from covid having been quite ill for about 7 weeks - at the time I posted I still had very poor the attention span and didn't search prior threads.

Anyway, I've spoken to my consultant now but wanted to say thanks for the responses. Appreciated.
