ERA testing after multiple implantation failures. Anyone had it done?

I've had four transfers so far (first 3 from 1 batch, fourth from a second egg collection) and 4 BFNs. I have a naturally conceived 4 1/2 year old and had a natural pregnancy with early miscarriage a bit over 3 years ago. My lining struggles to get to thickness, I have polycystic ovaries (on sukkarto), a fibroid, slightly high thyroid thingy (on levothyroxine), high bp (on meds) and a midline septum (ridge/divide in the uterus). I had surgery to unblock a tube 2 years ago. I'm in the healthy weight range.

My clinic have suggested PGS testing (we have 5 embryos in the freezer) but I'm really not keen on it as I've read about actually fine embryos being shown as poor and therefore being disposed of.

They also suggested ERA (endometrial receptor assessment). Has anyone had that done and found it useful? I just hate anything that delays the next FET but I think maybe it will be worth it?

Any other suggestions? Last FET I was on lots of estrogen, extra progesterone injections, clexane, neupogen infusion, aspirin and probably a whole load of other stuff I've forgotten.

I am so fed up with it all!

@Cream123 Oh I see, maybe I need to revise my ideal lining size of 12 mm then Smile!

bluepixie · 02/05/2021 17:05

Just had an epic meltdown. Sigh.

Gardenlady543 · 02/05/2021 17:42

@Cream123 how come? Are you ok?

bluepixie · 02/05/2021 18:39

I’m just getting stressed trying to juggle it all around work and also my holiday (this is a first world problem I know!). Went from cancelling to going to cancelling to going. Can’t actually cancel though! I think I’m just going for it and hoping lining doesn’t go over 12mm it would be unusual to ! May also get a private scan on sat somewhere local to reassure it’s not Lept to some crazy bumber!

bluepixie · 02/05/2021 18:44

Obv also just super exhausted and sick of the meds and know it won’t work!

Gardenlady543 · 02/05/2021 18:50

@Cream123 The holiday is supposed to be relaxing, so try not to to get too worked up about it. I honestly think the lining thickness won’t make much if any difference, I know they say that on the website but they are probably just covering themself for the research they’ve done in the past. This is your individual timing of progesterone, the fact it’s specific to you is the important bit. They say this is relevant for a 2 year period as well, you can have a child and then use the same timing in a subsequent pregnancy if you wanted to.

Plus you don’t know it’s not going to work, you’ve spent months having everything sorted to put yourself in a position for it to work, I don’t think there’s anything extra that you could do, that you haven’t done.

bluepixie · 02/05/2021 20:11

@Gardenlady543 thanks for your words. I think I’m just worried as was shocked lining went from 6-10 in 2 days....so wondering with will happen if I push it another 2 :/
(Totally not showing off about my stupid thick lining it’s really shit quality! I got preg with 6-7 MM every time but was great quality including once with my son and once an abnormal embryo so wasn’t lining which cause the mc )

Gardenlady543 · 02/05/2021 20:17

@Cream123 it sounds like the thicker the better then, I really don’t think the receptivity will change if it’s slightly more than 12mm. Can you speak with the clinic about it for reassurance?

seven201 · 02/05/2021 22:11

Gosh, I can't keep up. @Cream123 if you don't usually have a very thick lining then I doubt it will get much thicker. I'm on vaginal estrogen and it doesn't make much difference to me, although hard to tell! Mine tends to level off and just not increase when they've kept me on estrogen for an extra week.

@agesandages111 sorry you had a frustrating appointment. It's so disappointing when that happens. I find it all so awkward having to fight for things, but intimately not wanting to be a pain to the people who are looking in you with a lamp!

All this talk of progesterone timing has worried me. I was just told to take my progesterone am and pm (including an injection 3 times a week) but wasn't given a specific time to start. I think I did the first injection at 10.30 pm. Do they ask you on the day of the biopsy about when you started? I feel such a fool for not taking proper notice of the time Blush.

@seven201 yes they ask on day and then fill out paperwork so ignomix know and can work it out. I took my first dose of progesterone 126 hours prior to biopsy and result said I should take it at 139

seven201 · 02/05/2021 22:32

@Cream123 thank you. I am such an idiot for not thinking about it. I was planning on going for 8.30 but then got carried away sewing until my husband remembered he needed to inject my bum before he went to bed. I'm not even sure if I did the suppository earlier than that. I think I'm just going to say 10.30 as that's my best guess. I'm so angry at myself, and a bit miffed the clinic didn't make it clear. I'm one of those people who just likes being told what to do and when.

@seven201 don’t worry the result comes back as plus or minus 3 hours so it’s not precise precise. Like I said clinics r just so laid back and don’t act like they care! The important timing is when u first put progesterone in ur body ?

Is ur biopsy Friday then?

seven201 · 02/05/2021 22:47

@Cream123 thank you for the reassurance. Yes, it's the first dose I don't know the timings for, but I'll just go with 10.30. It's on Tuesday, so not long now. Started the progesterone on Thursday evening at an unknown time

bluepixie · 03/05/2021 19:10

@seven201 don’t worry like I said 3 hours here or there won’t matter
Good luck for biopsy - hope they get in and out quickly! What time is it?

seven201 · 03/05/2021 19:22

@Cream123 thank you. You can think of me in stirrups at 2.30 Grin. It's nice being able to chat about all things ivf without grossing my friends out or boring them to tears!

OP posts:
seven201 · 03/05/2021 19:22

@Cream123 how are you feeling now? I hope you're feeling a bit more positive.

Gardenlady543 · 03/05/2021 19:28

@seven201 is your biopsy tomorrow?

bluepixie · 03/05/2021 19:43

@Gardenlady543 yes thanks. I think it’s normal to feel overwhelmed with it all! I would have thought I would be better versed with it all! But the emotions can’t be contained sometimes. Had a nice day (despite the gale force winds) and found out they do transfers on sat so that makes work less a drama!
@garden

bluepixie · 03/05/2021 19:44

Sorry sent too soon
When is ur hsg??

@seven201 good luck! I was soooo excited to get of the meds!!! I celebrated with wine and cake Grin

Gardenlady543 · 03/05/2021 19:47

Glad you’re feeling a bit better @Cream123

My HSG is on Thursday, 3 more sleeps and then I might know more about what’s happening in my case!

bluepixie · 03/05/2021 20:10

@Gardenlady543 limbo is the worst! Least u will be armed with a plan hope they can tell u the findings st away and come back and let us know. Keeping eveything crossed that maybe something there to explain ur bfn but also easily fixable and solvable!

Gardenlady543 · 03/05/2021 20:18

Yeah definitely, thanks @Cream123 🤞

seven201 · 03/05/2021 20:36

@Cream123 I'm glad you had a better day today.

@Gardenlady543 yes, tomorrow afternoon. Can't wait for it to be over. I think I'll go find a cake shop after! Not long until your hsg now! I really hope they find some small easily fixable problem!

I know we should wish time away but I'd love to skip forward by 2 or 3 months!

Gardenlady543 · 03/05/2021 20:48

@seven201 good luck for tomorrow, yes definitely treat yourself to some cake after!

I agree, I just want to get these investigations over with and know what I’m dealing with.

ForeverAintEnough12 · 04/05/2021 16:16

Hi guys, thanks for the welcome! My day 1 arrived 3 days earlier than expected so today has been a nightmare as I didn’t even have a prescription from the clinic never mind the meds. My clinic are also being useless. I’ve no idea what the process is - can anyone explain what happens?

It’s even more important as I’m travelling from Ireland to the U.K. and I’ve no idea when I might be going over - if it’s in two weeks or three week or how long it all takes. Sad

So far I’ve gotten a prescription for a nasal spray, prognova and Crinone this evening and been told to start the nasal spray and to go for a scan between day 2-5 and that’s it Sad the nurse on duty honestly didn’t seem to understand what was happening which just makes it so stressful already.

Also don’t know whether it’s like normal ivf and we shouldn’t be having intercourse during the cycle or abstaining??
