Hi

Can anyone help me with where I can get DHEA from?

We start Ive next month and I'm supposed to be taking them 6-8 weeks before my treatment so now !

I ordered them from biovea after my consultant recommended so and it's been 2.5 weeks ! They say there's a delay on air travel and can only say they are on route!

Can anyone help? Thanks in advance

Biovea is the only place I know of, and delivery was always around 5 weeks (last year). It's not available in the UK so I think wherever you buy it you're going to have to wait for it to be shipped in from America.

@SamoyedFan123 thank you, wondered why I couldn't find it!! Damn it that's a long time, we start next month so it's going to be right getting the 6 weeks in unless we defer it by a month

@strawberrysummer19 DHEA normally needs to be used for at least 10 weeks before it has a positive effect on egg quality. Can you speak to your consultant about prescribing testosterone gel instead? This is used just for the 3 weeks prior to egg collection. It's only licensed in the UK for use in IVF cycles as it's very potent. I'm pretty sure it made a huge difference to our second (successful) cycle.

@SamoyedFan123

Ohh really? That's very interesting
He said 6 weeks before ? My next cycle date for April is around 16th so just over 6 weeks away
But I'll definitely ask and tell them I'm having trouble getting it

Exactly I don't want to not try but not keen on waiting for another cycle

I'm 38 and 39 in may with a AMH level
Of 5.6 so time is not on my side xx

Hi @strawberrysummer19 if your consultant will prescribe you DHEA then you can get it from Asda in 2-5 days. You'd have to check locally of course but I did that (Watford). That was also good quality micronised. I also bought over internet non-micro and it took 2 weeks but probably worked anyway based on my test results x

Hi

Thank you I've sent an email and asked x

@strawberrysummer19 did you manage to get your DHEA? I just wanted to add a note of caution. DHEA can be really helpful apparently but it's important to get your levels tested before you take it. I'm only adding this because of another thread I'm on where some women have had problems as their clinics didn't test first.

I was tested before and during taking it and have had no problems at all.

Some good information on here

Best of luck

@Janefx40 hiya no not yet, still waiting! The clinic have just said to take it when it arrives but then I can't start for 6-8 weeks after that so now only waiting on that

Hello! what brand did you buy? Feeling nervous about buying something from Biovea as it's the first time, and a brand I've never tried for a drug that's only authoriused with a prescription so wondering what others bought? I'm not getting tested as have been refused IVF bc of low levels but after reading It Starts with the Egg decided to give DHEA a go at just 1 x 25mg/ day to begin.

Janefx40 · 26/04/2021 18:59

Hi @Ronnyrambler I would advise getting tested first. Medichecks do the tests and you are looking at free testosterone and DHEA S. DHEA can really mess things up if you don't have low levels.

I did order mine from biovea and used some of that but mostly used Douglas Laboratories one that I got on prescription because it is micronised which is meant to be better. That being said my levels increased a lot so probably the Biovea also worked fine.

Best of luck x

@strawberrysummer19 good luck with the cycle. Yes let us know how it goes

Ronnyrambler · 01/05/2021 15:03

Thanks @Janetfx40 I'll get those tests done - I've never done anything medically speaking outside the NHS in my life so am not very aware of things like Medichecks, so good to know about them.

Thanks also @strawberrysummer19 I ordered MSM from Biovea as elsewhere the same bottle was advertised as micronized so was hoping that might be the case here, but possibly not. I'll see when it arrives. I couldn't find micronized and don't have a prescription but if the hormone tests show that I cana use DHEA then I'll start with this bottle and see if I can find micronized.

This is all new stuff for me as I was refused IVF der to low AMH of 0.2 in December and after that shock of finding that out, I've been reading It Starts from the Egg having seen people talking about it on this forum.

Janefx40 · 01/05/2021 15:51

@Ronnyrambler good luck with it. Glad you are getting tested first as DHEA is a funny one. I have to say I got tested by my IVF clinic but someone I know people through Mumsnet who have used Medichecks and it seems fine.

Xxx

Hi everyone

I have low AMH and will be starting my 2 treatment soon it was successful but sadly ended in miscarriage.
I was thinking to take DHEA i asked the doctor to prescribe me one, she refused. Whats the next alternative to DHEA.

Thank you in advance x

Hello, I was looking for info about testosterone gel and saw your post. If you don't mind me asking, could you please give me a bit more info about it, I was advise to take it before IVF due to low AMH, what is the level they are looking for ?

Thanks :)

SamoyedFan123 · 06/12/2021 19:29

@Nania60 your clinic should prescribe the testosterone gel and tell you what dose you should take - you can't buy it over the counter.

Nania60 · 06/12/2021 22:24

@SamoyedFan123
Yes they did but I was a bit confuse about the level they want me to achieve (above 3) as its higher than the normal Range which is 2. So, I was wondering if that was correct

SamoyedFan123 · 07/12/2021 00:53

@Nania60 okay, i see. In honesty i don't know the reasoning behind the high dosage - i assume it has to be high to produce results very quickly as you only take it for a short time. I just trusted my clinic and it worked for me. If you're concerned I would speak to your consultant about it. Sorry I can't be of more help.
