Trying to conceive😔

I’m 26 years old, I have a 5 year old child that I conceived after just one night of unprotected sex, but now I’m in a relationship and have been having unprotected sex for 7 months especially round the estimated time of ovulation and have still not conceived. I know it takes a while naturally but I’m becoming really worried that I might not be fertile. I’ve never gotten pregnant other then the once with the child I already have and have been sexually actively since 15. It’s beginning to really upset me and I feel like I’m obsessing over it. Does anyone have any advice or is anyone in the same position?

To me it doesn't sound like you have fertility problems, although I'm not a doctor. I gather that you don't have irregular periods, and you already have a kid. These facts plus your age, work in your favour. Try harder Wink and discuss your worries with your obgyn.

@TheInstructor thank you so much for your reply, I’ve recently had bloods which show I’m ovulating which is a good sign 🤞, I’m suspicious it’s because I’m overweight. This trying to conceive business is worrying lol! Xx

@CatrinaTah I wouldn't worry at this stage(easier said than done!) most doctors won't do any investigations until it's been at least a year if TTC. As PP your age and the fact you've had a child would also mean a fertility issue is less likely.

If it gets to the stage of needing further investigations remember your partner will need investigations and 1/3 cases of infertility are actually due to male factor issues. If your other half is a smoker/heavy drinker/overweight this can all affect sperm quality, sometimes an obvious cause isn't found though.

Good luck xx

@Roo45 thank you for replying to me. I’ve been worried sick. I’ve read lots about secondary infertility so I think I’ve scared myself lol xx

@CatrinaTah no worries, I know each month can be hard but it's generally accepted that even in people with no reproductive issues whatsoever it can take up to a year to get pregnant so I would try not to be too concerned at this stage. Just to be aware you probably know already a having healthy BMI can make it easier to conceive (little simplistic I know!) xx

It's definitely a good sign. If the matter persists, do all the blood tests and stay in touch with your OBGYN. Try not to worry because stress makes everything worse.
I'm wishing you the best of luck Star
