Ivf costs at create Birmingham

Hi all, has anyone done natural / modified at create b’gham? They list 3 cycle costs online but after consultation have included another £2k of ‘blood tests and care’ during the cycles. I would have thought the treatment costs should include all of that. They are telling me 4 blood tests will be required but taking the £2k package will be cheaper as it has unlimited tests.

I m just a bit conscious about these extras popping up regularly through the treatment and feeling like a walking cheque book.

Has anyone had experience with them? Any luck negotiating costs?

Thanks,
KB

No experience with create but I totally understand the "extras" we've used access fertility, paid an absolute fortune yet still get these extras popping up everywhere !

I did the 3 cycle natural modified IVF with ICSI package with Create Birmingham and including all the drugs and the support package total cost was £13.5k

I took the support package out each time as didn't want to pay individually for scans/tests as wanted to have some cost certainty so I'd recommend it

Also I should say I ever felt like a walking cheque book to them - in fact they talked me out of lots of extras other clinics had suggested as they said no evidence would make a difference

Absolutely no way of negotiating!!! 🤣 why would they? IVF is a booming industry at the moment. I did 5 cycles with them and spent £35k - the cost is the cost although they did throw in quite a few freebies like extra scans etc

The £2k package worked out better for me. It doesn't just include the blood tests (which soon mount up) but also sedation fees (I think those alone were about £200 or £250 per cycle)

Thank you so much everyone, I m going to take the full 3 cycle package.

I’m doing a three cycle package with create and it’s around 13.5k for three cycles of IVF (not ICSI) with the drugs. I asked for certain tests to be knocked off because I’d already had them on the NHS so they did that and to pay for meds as you use them as otherwise you could end up paying for more than you use x good luck

KB2209 · 02/03/2021 09:08

Hey @Sara, thanks...I didn't realize I could pay for meds I use them so that's great to know. I still have left over meds from last cycle and they are soooo expensive

@KB2209

I also did this as had left over medication and rather than buying all 3 cycles up front as part of the package I bought them a cycle at a time as didn't want to waste money as these were to be our last ever cycles

Just a follow on message from these 'extra' costs all the time. After spending a couple of years trying with several cycles of IVF we have finally managed to get 2 embryos that are euploid. We're both 41 and it took a duo cycle to obtain these and it'll be the first time my girlfriend has had embryos implanted. They then quoted over £2000 for the implantation process. Does that sound about right in your opinion? The way the doctor explained it on the video call, it was a very quick and simple procedure (20minutes she said) that didn't involve any sedation and minimal equipment. Just curious. Like you say they are in a booming industry so I guess they can charge what they like?

@Samuel398 I did a frozen embryo transfer at Create in October and it was about £2000 including the meds (I did a medicated cycle). They are looking after the embryo, thawing starts earlier than the transfer time and there were 3 staff in the room with me, plus the nurse in the bay and the embryologist. Plus I had 2 scans to check my lining and I was ok for transfer and a blood test and the 6 week scan, so all in, £2000 is not that expensive in my opinion.
