Endometrial Scratch Prior to FET

Good evening,

I just wondered if anyone had an endometrial scratch and how long before?

I had mine in December, 1 natural period and 1 induced bleed since. I was due to start in January but due to being unable to isolate I’ve only recently started again now the Covid numbers are down. My transfer is Tuesday and wondered if anyone had any thoughts on whether the scratch would still be effective?

History: I’ve had 2 failed cycles. 1 fresh and 1 frozen! This is my 2nd frozen cycle. My blastocysts are a perfect grade, they just don’t seem to ‘stick’ for me.

This time I am having acupuncture and taken 75mg aspirin daily. Any other thoughts/advice welcome. Oh and eating pineapple core too. 🍍

Thank you all in advance!

Amy xx

Hi OP they normally like to do the scratch the cycle before your transfer (so one bleed in between), but after my failed FET last year we went straight into another transfer and they told me no need to get it done again as the effects last for up to 3 months. For what it's worth that second transfer stuck. Good luck! Xxx

I had 3 scratches and 3 successful transfers. All we’re done the cycle beforehand as PP has said. Best of luck x

Thank you both for your replies. Feel a little better knowing that the scratch was worth it. I was so torn in January wondering whether to start or not. Such a worrying time on top of everything else xx

@AmyLeanne1987 I’m having some extra tests done (PGT-A and maybe an ERA) as I’m in a similar situation to you, 1 unsuccessful fresh and 1 unsuccessful frozen transfer. Out of interest did you have any tests before your specialist decided on adding in the aspirin?

AmyLeanne1987 · 26/02/2021 06:40

@Gardenlady543 I have had an endometrial biopsy and I had thyroid checked too. All came back clear.

I asked my consultant about Asprin and whether it would be worth trying and he said yes. It was never mentioned by him before I bought it up. I did some research on it and just asked the question.

I’ve not heard of those tests you are having so will do a bit of research. Thank you and hope it all goes well for you xx

Ah that’s interesting @AmyLeanne1987 I’ll have a look into it. PGT-A looks at the number of chromosomes in the embryos, it is used to select out the ones with 1 too many/too little. There are negatives: it’s an extra thaw and refreeze- in my case I lost my best embryo in the process, there’s a risk of damage and there may be no result or it can come back as mosaic which means some cells are normal and some are abnormal, which increases uncertainty. I did it because I had 7 (now 6) embryos, so hopefully it will reduce the time to pregnancy, but it won’t change the situation, it doesn’t improve the chance of it working, if the embryo is abnormal then it just tells you that.

I had a scratch Aug 19. FET Nov 19 after OHSS delayed things. Nurses said it would still be effective despite the delay. FET was successful.

Good luck!

@Gardenlady543 oh I’ve not heard of it tbh! I will have to have a look, although I’m not sure I would do it. Thanks for the information though 😀

I had my transfer last Tuesday and my consultant said it would still be affective now! All good! 👍🏼

Ooh you're only a few days away from testing (if you're sensible! 😂). I really hope this one sticks for you 🤞. Keep us updated.

@Yokey I will do! Day 4 today and I’ve started spotting! Did with my other two as well! 1st was on day 8 and 2nd on day 5 so feeling a little anxious today 😢

Hoping it’s either the Lubion or implantation 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

It's such an anxious time and I'm sure spotting makes the anxiety worse. Hopefully third time's a charm 🤞
