Mad to opt for 3 day transfer?

I am doing a mild ivf cycle. Retrieved 6 eggs, in line with expectation. 4 fertilised and today, day 3, they are 5, 7, 8 and 10 cells. Embryologist said they'd be pretty confident there'd be a blast to transfer on wednesday but i am scared to wait and have nothing so have opted to transfer the 8 and 10 today. Am i mad?? Any experience of three day transfers, or waiting til day 5 with just 3 or 4 3 days?
I have a DD from a frozen 6 day blast. Last cycle retrieved 23 eggs but only ended up with 3 poor/average blasts. One double transfer ended in MC at 8 weeks, single FET was chemical.

I only ever get a few eggs/embryos but most thankfully do get to blast. It was a nervous wait so I completely get it.

Cycle 1 transferred 5 day blast BFN. Cycle 2 blasts transferred BFN. Cycle 3 freeze all and 2 3 day embryos transferred BFN. Cycle 4 freeze all, 2 3 day embies transferred and BFP.

I suppose it depends on whether your embryos usually progress to blasts. Sounds like you have a very good chance either way if you have had a BFP, MC and a chemical though. If they are going to stick then I guess they are better in you than in a petri dish.

Good luck!

Thanks @FingersXssd83
I was just having a bit of a crisis about whether i was doing the best thing. Had conversation with embryologist when i got to the clinic and she said they were comfortable with transferring today as i had two clear leaders in my 8 and 10 cell that were both grade 2. My 7 cell was 2.5 in the morning but she said there was a bit more fragmentation by afternoon. They'll culture it and the 5 cell to day 5 anyway but think the two gone back in have the best chance. They are in now so the horrors of the 2ww begin now 😬

Glad to hear of your bfp after your multiple tries. It can be a tough road

No worries!

We only ever had one 10 cell embryo on day three and I'm convinced that was the one that gave us our baby as we had an 8 and 10 cell transferred. Hopefully the same will happen for you!

We're gearing up to go again in the next few months. Excited and terrified in equal measure 😬

Good luck @Galgal15 ! I'd try not to second guess yourself as while I understand that day 5's are supposed to have a slightly higher chance, I believe that it matters less whether it's a day 3 or day 5, than whether it's a "good" embryo in the first place and even day 5 grading can't always tell you that (only expensive PGS testing).

@FingersXssd83 Can I ask whether you did anything differently on your 4th (successful) cycle? Did you change clinic or drug regimen?

Wow, that's an interesting councidence. I'm going to take it as a good omen 😁
Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. Best of luck with your next round.

Thanks @IamnotwhouthinkIam, i felt a lot better after speaking to the embryologist in person so i'm comfortable with my decision. Now just general 2ww anxiety!
Best of luck to you!

@Galgal15

I know this is an old post but I’m 41 and been batching from 40 for second child. I’m worried about thawing all my embryos and refreezing. I could not do a fresh transfer last month as was worried I had an infection still. So I’m preparing for frozen transfer but have 11 day 3 embryos: 7 from first cycle, 2 from second and 2 from last cycle. I’d like to thaw embryos just from last two cycles but only have 4 day 3. However, I have one 9 cell grade 1, one 9 cell grade 2, 8 cell grade 2 and 7 cell grade 2.

I’m just wondering how you got on with your day 3 transfer of an 8 and 10 cell? Thanks

Hiya, I got pregnant with a singleton but unfortunately miscarried again around 9 weeks. We did some more tests but ultimately decided that with both poor sperm quality and my age that the odds were stacked against us so we didn't go for any more fertility treatment. No miracles, am turning 44 this month and never got pregnant naturally. Hopefully you'll have better luck x

@Galgal15

I’m sorry to hear that. It must have been really hard. I’m 41 and have noticed my egg quality worsen since my fsh became high from January. I do have a son from IVF IMSI and he will be 2 in December but I so wanted him to have a sibling. I’m feeling like a failure. I’ve done batching but the last two cycles I have had a lower fertilisation rate.

I believe you had a good number of eggs collected from a mild cycle. A friend of mine went to Greece Serum and she never looked back. She was 43 nearly 44 when she conceived her first child through IVF there using her own eggs. She did a mild cycle and had immune testing. She had two day 3 embryos and one stuck.
