IUI help - too many follicles!

Hi

So I just had my scan on day 10 and they said I have 5 follicles that could potentially release an egg.

The doctor says we should abstain from DTD. I'm 36.

Should we still try in the hope of catching one egg?

Any help, advice or experience is appreciated!

I'd only go for it if you are happy with the risks associated with with multiple pregnancy, including possible need for reduction if you had triplets (because multiple pregnancy is statistically a lot more likely if the doctors think you could have 5 follicles that may release).

I was told for instance, that if you were having IUI most fertility clinics wouldn't go ahead if there were more than 3 large follicles for this reason - too risky.

I released 5 eggs on Clomid last cycle. We didn't find out till I ended up in a lot of pain so paid for a private scan to find 5 haemorrhagic cysts which are secondary to releasing eggs. We'd DTD regularly throughout my FW but unfortunately we didn't get pregnant 😔 but my fertility nurse was worried if I was to with a risk of potentially quintuplets

Maybe it depends a bit on why you're having IUI, I would certainly try, but bear in mind the risks outlined by @IamnotwhouthinkIam
