Bleed after Abandoned FET

Hi, wondering if anyone that has had their medicated FET abandoned due to lining issues could share when they bled after stopping medication. I was on 8mg of Progynova for 11 days and then increased to 10mg for a further 5 days but my lining decreased. Wondering when I can expect the first bleed after stopping. Thanks x

Hi @AutumnHoping sorry this happened to you - literally the exact same thing happened to me in December. It's so frustrating. I stopped my oestrogen on CD18. I had spotting on CD23-27, then finally got a proper period on CD34. I guess it might be a bit different for everyone though. My next cycle was slightly short at only 26 days. Good luck with your next attempt xxx

Thank you @bicyclesandbeyond. The wait is so annoying - although at least the second bleed isn’t as long. My send bleed after my failed attempt was 38 days. I’m now CD 40 and still waiting. Hope you have more success if trying again

Thank you @AutumnHoping - just in the process of another FET now and lining a bit better on a higher dose of oestrogen from the start + aspirin. Sorry about your long cycle, it's incredibly frustrating, all we ever seem to do is wait isn't it? I wondered if it would be better to take the progesterone for a bit in this situation because at least that would induce a bleed when it stops, then you would hope our bodies would click back into a normal cycle. My clinic didn't suggest that though.

I'm in the midst of an abandoned FET and have started progesterone today on the advice of my clinic, I have to take 800mg per day progesterone and continue with this and my oestrogen 6mg for 5 days then stop all and hopefully have a period 5 - 7 days later. (I don't take the meds all at once, that's the total).

AutumnHoping · 18/02/2021 18:34

That’s great @bicyclesandbeyond - I hope you get a BFP with this one! I had wondered about progesterone but only from readin here. I’ll give to Monday and phone clinic - as much as I want it to come I worry that if I used progesterone to bring it on would the next one be really long too? Ah it’s hard to know!

Hi @LongerthanMrTicklesarms thanks for sharing. Did you have any break in medication or were you advised of that from the outset. Sorry it was abandoned - it’s rubbish when we get out hopes up and take the meds for so long to then not even make it to transfer

That makes so much sense @LongerthanMrTicklesarms I'm not sure why my clinic didn't suggest that. Do you mind me asking why yours was abandoned? Was it due to lining thickness too? Sorry you've had this experience too x

LongerthanMrTicklesarms · 18/02/2021 20:48

Hi @AutumnHoping I didn't have any break in medication, I've just looked at my chart and today is day 16 of medication.
I knew about a week ago that the FET would be cancelled but the clinic wanted me to continue with the medication and said they'd let me know about progesterone which they confirmed a few days ago.
I hope your bleed comes soon and fingers crossed for next attempt.
If it's not too weird I can update you of how long it takes AF to arrive. Looking back at notes on a mock cycle I was taking same medication but with a Prostap injection on day 2 of progesterone and AF started 8 days after that injection. I still took the oestrogen and a total of 5 days of progesterone.

My FET was abandoned due to travel restrictions @bicyclesandbeyond
I can't travel abroad for the transfer.
Wishing you luck with this FET.

AutumnHoping · 18/02/2021 21:12

Thanks @bicyclesandbeyond - that would be good if you don’t mind. Seems good at least your clinic preempted the delay and kept you on the meds to bring a bleed on. Hopefully it comes soon for you though you’re maybe still in limbo with the travel restrictions.

I think I half expected AF to arrive a few days sfyer I stopped the meds (like with my failed cycle) - even though that would only have been CD20 or so. The clinic didn’t advise when it was likely to come either and because I assumed I never asked. If nothing by Monday I’ll contact the clinic and see can I take progesterone to bring it on. This awful cycle between wishing for a bleed and being heartbroken by a bleed is quite the rollercoaster!

Oh it's horrible isn't it, I was wishing for my period, then wishing for a delay so I could do the FET this cycle, then the restrictions changed again and now that I can't do the FET I'm kind of hoping it stays away long enough that maybe the rules will change again so I can go in the next few months. Patience is in short supply but I shall have to dig deep.

Are your clinic pretty responsive? Maybe you could make the suggestion about progesterone and see what they say, and whether they plan to give you a break or start back on the medication when your period comes.
It absolutely is a rollercoaster, let's hope for a more gentle ride next time. 💐

I was the same after my failed cycle in October - wished it wouldn’t come so maybe then I could start again sooner as there was a 7 week wait to have my consultation after it failed. So that’s the other thing - even though I’m private the wait times are pretty long. I will def suggest it as it’s really dragging out now. When the nurse told me it was cancelled she wasn’t sure if I would have to wait for 2 cycles and was to phone back. I don’t imagine I will be able to go again with this bleed but will let them know anyway just Incase. I’m so impatient and every month counts x

Hi @AutumnHoping hope you got the go ahead for starting again.
Just to say I finished taking my progreterone and progynova medication on Monday night and my period has started today. Cycle day 24 so it is sooner than I'd expected as the clinic had advised 5-7 days after stopping medication and it's only been 3. The travel restrictions for me were extended again today so don't think I will do any medication this cycle.

AutumnHoping · 25/02/2021 21:52

That’s great @LongerthanMrTicklesarms. Well great it’s started so you’re not in limbo but crap about the restrictions. Mine actually started yday - so 29 days after stopping treatment. I think def longer than normal as when I phoned the clinic they said should have been about 2 weeks. But I can’t start again - basically back to square one. Have appointments again with consultant even though we know how I’ll proceed. I’m very annoyed. Really thinking about changing clinics now as I find the service in mine shocking

Sorry @AutumnHoping that is very frustrating when you know what the plan is but they haven't started it this cycle.
Maybe do a bit of research on some clinics, I've seen some threads here about moving embryos and recommendations for transport so it can be done.

Hoping things have gone well for you @bicyclesandbeyond
