Negative Fertility Doctor

Hi,

I tested positive on my 3rd round of Clomid this week.

Just spoke to the fertility doctor and he told me to not get too exited as a lot of pregnancies end in early miscarriage. He's told me to call my GP if I still get a positive in 10 days.

Is this normal? It's really upset me.

Thanks

I think he is just being cautious. I was told something similar after my IVF cycle. I got a BFP and was told first by my GP that HCG was low (it wasn’t, was just very early). I was then told by clinic to test in another week or two and let them know result. Enjoy your BFP. Test in a few days and make sure line is getting darker. Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months!

Oh that seems unnecessary to me. I can understand your being upset. We all already know early miscarriages can happen. He's obviously seen it all, but if there's no reason to suspect there's something wrong, I'd do my best not to let it piss on the good news. It won't make a difference to the outcome anyway. Congrats on your BFP! Flowers

Thanks guys. Waited so long for this and now my anxiety levels are through the roof!

I suppose all we can do is wait and see how things pan out 🤞🏽

Some of the male fertility consultants seem to have a really terrible bedside manner in my experience. They are only giving you the hard facts and figures but it's the way they go about it that can be truly upsetting. By contrast the female ones I have seen are all lovely, positive, and can deliver the same facts and figures in a totally different manner.

Try not to let him get to you OP and congrats on your BFP 😊

Thanks @SamoyedFan123 I did feel like that! He also said that I 'cheated' taking a test too early and I should have only done it if I hit CD35. I didn't know there was rules 😳

Oh well, hopefully I have a sticky bean and will laugh about this after a while! Need to stop googling miscarriage rates 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️
