Not sure if this post will make sense, but just wanted to talk with people who might understand!
Essentially last year like most our IVF was cancelled, after 6 months we looked at going private as I was low priority given my age which is completely understandable.
About a month before my private cycle was due to start I got a call from NHS hospital to say the CCG contract had changed and a new hospital was taking over NHS IVF services, their waiting list for initial appointment was only 2 months. I had a massive dilemma but the NHS only offered short protocol and we were dealing with MFI and I was otherwise 'healthy' and it was around the time a second lockdown was potentially coming in place so I decided to stick with the private clinic.
Our long protocol round was a failure, only 2 poor quality embryos and the consultant has decided to change my next protocol to short.
I've been kicking myself since then, if I had just waited a few months I could have got the same treatment with NHS! We only get 1 free round here which I've lost now obviously.
I keep telling myself I have no way of knowing what would have happened but I can't shake the feeling. My worry with short protocol is we won't get many eggs, my consultant does think the poor embryo quality is more likely a sperm issue but 4/11 of my eggs were immature or abnormal so says it's possible there are egg quality issues too.
Did anyone else ever go through anything like this? Xx
