Just reading through my fet protocol and it mentions how a rather big charge can be applied if an embryo doesn't survive the thaw. Does anyone know why this charge can be applied? On the website it states care will refund the patient a sum if fet is cancelled before replacement but don't know if this means the same as if an embryo doesn't survive the thaw? Frustrating as there seems to be lots of extra costs popping up

Hello,
We have had a FET transfer at Care. Does it mean the total of what you'll be charged if you don't have the full treatment because of the treatment you have had up to that point? Is it less? X

No it just says this "there is a chance there may be a failure to thaw of the embryos. In this event there will be a charge of £1,200"
It doesn't make it very clear really
Also we've gone with an access fertility refund package
Thanks for replying btw

I'm not with Care but my clinic had similar abandoned cycle fees. An FET involves several tracking scans etc which would be chargeable even if the embryo didn't survive the thaw

@ivfbeenbusy yeah I know if a cycle gets cancelled there is a cancellation fee of about £500 so thinking about it maybe the extra is the embryo thaw fail on top of it. It's just abit frustrating when you pay literally thousands and thousands of pounds for these packages yet if something happens that is out of your control you still end up having to pay even more money.

It is very frustrating!! Although it is reassuring that over 90% of embryos survive the thawing process!

@sozzleb1983 yeah that's true and I've read about the rates but I'm panicking mine won't make it 😩 anxiety !!
