AFC of 34 at baseline

I think I'm over-thinking and worrying about this but wanted to reach out and see if anyone had a similar experience

Had baseline scan yesterday. They found 17 follicles on each ovary so a total antral folicile count of 34 (this was what was previously noted at a scan I had over a year ago also). Started gonal f today and they want me back in on Friday to do a monitoring scan also (this is an additional scan to the monitoring ones already booked)
I'm not in panic mode about OHSS and what happens if more follicles are produced and basically just thinking the worst and wondering if the drugs will make things go crazy!

Anyone else had a higher AFC at baseline or similar and what was your experience with egg collection and OHSS risk?

Hey there, I've not been in your position as my AFC was 24ish, but I imagine your clinic has started you on low dose stims - do you think this is the case? They may also do a blood test for oestrogen to monitor for OHSS risk too. Good luck, I know how stressful it can be xx

I'm on 150 for gonal f which i think is the lowest? I was told it's the lowest anyway

@willithappen my AFC is 34, I don’t have PCOS, it was just very high. I was put on a short protocol, I was scanned early at 6 days and my oestrogen level was monitored. I ended up only needing the stims for 8 days before EC so the early scan was really important, my clinic usually scans people for the first time on day 8. Everything was fine, I didn’t develop OHSS. I ended up with 12 eggs, all were mature and all fertilized, 9 made it to blastocytes. Which is a great result, I found it uncomfortable as my ovaries grew, but otherwise everything was fine. I’d be interested to see how your numbers turn out.

My AFC was 22 initially and then 14 on baseline scan day. I was put on 112.5 of gonal f. I was scanned on day 8 and had 28 follicles, on day 10 I had 31. Bloods were also taken and because my oestrogen was higher than they wanted on day 10, on day 11 and 12 I only took 75 of gonal and then took the trigger on day 13.

I got 20 eggs and never had OHSS.

Hopefully I get EC quicker than planned! They initially thought maybe 26th Feb for EC
