IVF carbon monoxide test

We have an appointment in March at CARE in Sheffield.. I've heard that they can do a breath test to check if you've been smoking.... I'm not a smoker and my partner has pretty much stopped completely since we were told this... found out over the last couple of days he has 1 every 2 days... he tells me... I'm not happy about it, I feel like if he fails this test then I'll probably lose it. As I've had all these invasive tests and he's ruined it.... but now I'm reading online that lots of things can up your carbon monoxide levels and one of those being welding fumes... and he is a welding and works all day with multiple engineers welding
... what happens if he fails this test... I don't know what I'm really asking on here, I'm just venting I guess... but the idea of losing my chance or have it postponed on me after waiting 5 years for a baby will really effect me

Was in a similar position. My partner told clinic he was a 'social smoker' and would have one if he had a drink on a night out. Very rare, but he's a rugby player so of course after games drinks so maybe once a week he smoked?
His test result came back the exact same level as mine - I have never smoked a day in my life

However, because he had told them he was a social smoker they wouldn't put us on the IVF waiting list until he had been three months without smoking at all. So that put us three months back before going on the list, then Covid knocked us back another two months. Finally starting now though!

So basically if he 'fails' they will want him to stop smoking completely for three months and then go back again. The next time we went back we didn't get tested again, but then it was a video appointment we had due to Covid and they just asked us if he had stopped and we said yes and that was us put on the list
