Baseline scan says 4 follicles. Doc says we can proceed. Do you think more will appear during stims? Any positive stories?

Hi OP I think it's unusual to get more follicles from the stims - but the drugs will stimulate all of most of the ones that you do have to develop, so you could still get 4 eggs if you're lucky. I had 2 cycles at age 40 with an AFC of 13. In the first cycle 8 follicles developed enough and we got 6 eggs, in the second cycle (changed protocol slightly) 12 follicles grew enough and we got 12 eggs. It's good to be prepared to need more than one cycle as the first go can often be a bit of trial and error to see how you respond to the drugs. Another thing that's worth considering is mild IVF which I think concentrates on enhancing one of two eggs in ladies that don't produce many.

Also AFC can vary slightly month on month so if its possible that you could get 5 or 6 follicles on a good month. Have they told you what your AMH is because that's a good indicator of how you'll respond to the stims.

I’m doing mild IVF three cycles with Create. I did a high dose protocol with the nhs and it failed miserably and hardly got any eggs. My AFC is better now and I seem to do a lot better with the low dose stimulation. I’m 41.5. I’d personally recommend Create they’ve been great. Good luck x

Hi ladies, just saw this thread as looking for some positive stories, I'm 42, had 3 miscarriages in the last 2 years (all naturally conceived) but at a recent fertility check I was told my follicle count was very low at just 3. I've been told I can try IVF as it 'just takes one good egg' but really worried they won't get enough out and they've reiterated that IVF won't prevent another miscarriage (which I know, but it just adds to the pressure) x
