Thyroid meds for FET

Hi all, we are doing FET this month. I've just had my baseline scan, all good to go. They retested my thyroid free T4 amd although my result is normal its higher than they like for IVF. Range us 0.27 to 4.2 and my result is 3.2. They prefer it to be at or lower than 2.5. So now I have daily levothyroxine. Its the first time I've felt overwhelmed by medicine because I'm normal but they are still medicating me if you see what I mean. Also the nurse told me to watch out for anxiety, palpitations and tremors, which scared me and you just know ill get anxious about the possibility so how do I tell what is a side effect and what is all in my head. Plus my plonker of an other half said "oh you'll get fat if they down regulated your thyroid" don't they say the most stupid things sometimes. Im so hormonal i swing from tears to anger. Did this happen to anyone else?

Hi there!

Why would they give you levo if you have highish free t4? Are you sure it is not TSH?
Sorry I may not understand very well^^

In any case, don't worry at all :) I suppose they gave you 25 micrograms right? This is very low dose, so it is unlikely you get any side effect. And if you do, you may have tiny palpitations, I never did, but nothing you should worry about. And you won't gain weight, I never did in 20 years haha

And honestly, levothyroxin is usually given for underactive, it gives it a push!

Dont worry about it, everything will be fine. Take care :)

Xx

@sophfr17 no you might be right maybe she said TSH, I cant remember, but defo that its too high for IVF. Yes 25ug.
Thank you for the reassurance about side effects though.

Hi, I was in the same position last month. Mine was 2.8 and they wanted it under 2.5 so I was put on 25mcg of levothyroxine. I just had it tested again this week and it has gone down to 1.3 so I can start my ivf cycle. Honestly don't worry at all, it's a very low dose. I had headaches for the first week which is normal. Apart from that no other side effects really, possibly some very minor palpitations but I have also been very stressed at work so could have been that! They want it under 2.5 because higher than this they have found it can cause a higher risk of miscarriage. Most women who don't do ivf would never know so I see it as an advantage we can do something about it beforehand 🙂

I'm on it for the same reason. It's very normal so don't worry.
