Hey,

Looking at going private now for IVF. I've signed up for a open evening webinar at Simply Fertility but wondered if anyone on here had any recommendations for clinics in my area.

TIA

@Crazydoglady123 there were around 10 I think, all with different situations. I imagine there will be more this time given the dire funding in Essex and Covid on top of added stress. I wish I had gone private straight away, wasted a year to then be told there was no funding anyway 😞 xx

JandL2020 · 04/02/2021 22:07

@Crazydoglady123 definitely exciting. I was so nervous with first injection but got into the swing of things. Xx

@JandL2020 ah okay! Yeah everything's so slow now thanks to Covid 😔 I was told from my first appointment with my consultant that I wouldn't get funding as I have a child from a previous relationship which is harsh on my OH as this will be his first. I know I'm lucky I have a child but it's so frustrating as to why my body won't do it again. Before was so easy! Literally second cycle off birth control! I'm so broody and just want to give my OH something precious.

@JandL2020 was the egg removal horrible? That's the bit I'm not looking forward to... 🥴

@Crazydoglady123 sorry you’re having problems second time around, and I agree it is harsh. My sister/husband suffered with secondary infertility - it definitely sucks! egg collection is best bit! The sedation and the treats from the nurses afterwards tea and biscuits how many you want 😀

JandL2020 · 05/02/2021 07:15

@Crazydoglady123 I felt sore afterwards so have a hot water bottle for when you get home and some paracetamol and enjoy being lazy and let your partner spoil you 😄

Crazydoglady123 · 05/02/2021 16:11

Ugh the thought makes me feel queasy 🤢🤮 Can you feel them still when you're sedated? I had a blackthorn surgically removed from my arm once under local and the sensation of them digging around in my skin turns my stomach (and my blood pressure plummets 🤣🙈)

@JandL2020 when you had your egg collection at Simply, was it under sedation or GA?

OP posts:
JandL2020 · 22/02/2021 21:34

@Crazydoglady123 sedation. Didn’t feel a thing was out of it. Next thing I know i was waking up in the recovery area. A little sore for a few days so had a hot water bottle and just rested. Did you like the open evening webinar? X

Crazydoglady123 · 22/02/2021 22:20

@JandL2020 thank you. I don't know why I seemed to get the idea it was GA from somewhere. Yeah it was okay. Didn't really learn anything else but have my AMH and AFC in two weeks and consultation the week after. They're happy with OH SA tests which are just over 6 months but as done with them they're not asking for repeats. I'm hoping to start on my cycle due beginning of April 🤞

@Crazydoglady123 that’s good news. I’ll be starting again in April too 😃 xx

Crazydoglady123 · 23/02/2021 13:20

@JandL2020 oh wow! We may even cross paths 💜

Hey @JandL2020 how are you? Any news to you starting? I had my consultation yesterday and they're letting me start on this cycle so it's a complete whirlwind atm getting everything done in time to go. Sorry if I asked before, but what protocol was you on and what type of meds did Simply give you for down regs?

@Crazydoglady123 hey! I’m starting very soon in a few weeks have a nurse app today to discuss protocol and meds. You usually get more info from these appointments. As nice as consultant is I’m left felt a bit in limbo. I was on short protocol low stims gonal F. I was put on the pill first for 21 days, had a bleed then started injections not long after. It was quite a short process compared to frozen cycle which is what I’m doing next. Did the consultant recommend a protocol for you? X

Crazydoglady123 · 18/03/2021 11:02

@JandL2020 I have my planning appointment today too and am going to be on long protocol (which tbh I was surprised about considering how I responded too well to Clomid). I'm on Clomid this cycle again too as my Nhs consultant wanted me to one more time but we've abstained until I find out on scan at Ipswich on Monday (CD12) with him how many follicles I have but I've made the decision even if I only have one or two I want to go straight for IVF so will start down regs CD21 from what I could gather off the consultation.
I feel like I've learnt so much more about the ivf cycles, frozen transfers and everything else so much more in the last few weeks! How long is the protocol for your frozen transfer? Did you contact the counsellor also?
