Hi.

Just after some info as pretty new to all of this.
I'm 38, just had the amh test and the result was 55.2. The nurse said this was good as it is high. I've had two babies naturally but now have lost both Fallopian tubes due to ectopics.

Just wondering if anyone has had ivf in this situation and which process they undertook? The nurse did mention lite ivf to me?

Thanks for any info given
X

High AMH is correlated to PCOS but on the upside implies high ovarian reserve (residual eggs). Their concern is that your body is more sensitive to the ivf drugs/hormones than average. You're likely to be able to make lots of eggs for collection but also high risk of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome. That can make you very sick and if your hormones are raging (esp very high oestrogen) just before embryo transfer they will recommend doing a Freeze All cycle (skipping a fresh transfer). Fresh transfer and pregnancy prolongs/worsens OHSS. Very few women have severe OHSS now due to heavy monitoring.

High AMH is better than low AMH on the fertility journey. Amount of eggs is not a guarantee of quality but it does give you more to work with.

I had highish AMH and they did short cycle with gonal f and cetrotide then trigger shot. Less than 2 weeks from start to collection. Both times they have had to drop my gonal f doses as we went, even starting lower second time. I have had a mod high oestrogen before fresh transfer and they were happy to proceed only because i felt totally well and had uneventful pregnancy with similar high oestrogen first time around.

But you do get more bloating with fluid inside your abdo cavity. Can get leaky lungs and breathing problems when it's worse.

Leaky lungs and breathing problems 😳 that sounds awful!!! I have always wondered if I have pcos but this has n we come up on any scans! Would further tests be required to investigate that?
