Hello, I was wondering if anyone had similar experience/advice to my situation?
I stopped taking my regular contraceptive pill which I had been on for 14 years, in August 2020 so as to try for a baby. I know things take time but I haven't had a period since and no signs of it! Has anyone had similar experience? Many thanks

It took a few months for my period to come back and the re-establish a normal cycle after I came of the hormonal coil. All our bodies are different and it can just be different for different people, but I would go see your doctor though as it has been a while.

The pill actually leaves your system very quickly after taking the last tablet so I would go to the GP to discuss this matter. There is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate but what it can do is mask symptoms of underlying hormonal problems.

Blood tests should be done to see what your hormone levels are like now with particular reference to LH and FSH. This blood test is taken on day 2; as your periods are non existent blood tests can be done according to calendar days (so a test should be done on the 2nd of a given month). Problems with the thyroid gland and a condition called polycystic ovaries can be some possible causes as to why you have not had a period.
