FET question

Hi everyone.

How many days/hours of progesterone did you have in a frozen cycle? I’m being told 120 hours is somewhat standard.

I have had 2 transfers so far and one ended in miscarriage and the other was a straight bfn.

My clinic both times have done 5 full days with transfer day 6 which equates to like 134 + hours of progesterone but to me it doesn’t seem right.

Is it better to transfer after 4 full days of progesterone and the embryo arrive to uterus on day 5 like in a normal cycle?

Any information would be great as there isn’t much about it online.

Thank you

I was started 3 days before the FETs and continued to testing day each time. Would have continued for 2 weeks after if successful I believe.

I did 3x 400mg suppositories from day after egg collection/ovulation depending on which kind of transfer. The one cycle which was successful I requested by level be checked on transfer day and It was around 150 I think - part of me think this is what helped both to stick as I had twins

This is a frozen transfer so they want me to do 5 full days of progesterone with embryo going in day 6, to me I feel like this is to long.

I’m going on Lubion injections this time

@Lianne32 my clinic had me start progesterone pessaries (200mg each) the day after my lining scan, just one on the first day, then three per day, so 600mg for 5 full days before FET one week after the scan. I had one unsuccessful transfer and one successful one, same progesterone protocols. They also had me stay on them until 12 weeks pregnant. Good luck!

Have you had an ERA?

Pretty unusual I thought to do a day 6 transfer?

My progesterone arrived with all the other medication but in the end I was told not to take any (FET) so I guess they're basing it on your own personal circumstances. Do you not trust your clinic? Have you raised it with them?

I’m having a FET at the moment, my clinic want me to have a day 22 transfer, which seems very late and when I enquired why they said it’s because they have too many other patients to schedule in on the date I should have it! which upset me. But they seem adamant that as I’m on estradiol my follicles are shut down and as long as the progesterone is started at the correct time it will be fine. I’m also on 5 days of progesterone, due to start on Friday with a transfer due on the 6th day. I’m having a blood test the day before as I started bleeding on 8dp5dt in my fresh cycle.

I’ve been trying to read up on progesterone dosing, I think 5 days before transfer is fairly common in a FET. This article is quite interesting it seems to suggest that it’s having the progesterone at a specific level in the body which causes endometrial receptivity that allows implantation to occur: “once progesterone levels reach a critical threshold, they set into motion a well-timed and orderly secretory transformation of the endometrium leading to receptivity”

@Yokey are you having natural FET? In medicated FET progesterone needs to be administered because ovulation is shut off and the body won’t naturally produce any progesterone.

Yokey · 27/01/2021 16:02

I did have, yes, @Gardenlady543, and I know that's different. My point was that surely the clinic consider individual circumstances when deciding these things, otherwise we'd all be doing the same? Well, I'd like to think so, but that's why I was asking if OP trusted the clinic. I would have been really upset with what your clinic told you too! But it seems like from what you've researched, it shouldn't make a difference. Best of luck to you

It’s not that I don’t trust my clinic but twice I’ve been on this protocol to no avail and I know fresh is diff to frozen in terms of progesterone exposure.

What I’ve read day 6 is pretty standard but to me personally it’s a bit long but my clinic do not wanna listen to me

@Lianne32 I started on the suppositories 5 days before my transfer and had the transfer on day 6 at 400x3 a day and carry on until 12 weeks

Gardenlady543 · 27/01/2021 17:32

@Yokey I think they tend to go with quite standard protocols and then only adjust if there’s an issue. I think sometimes we have to push for changes though, I’m only having a blood test and on a higher dose this time because I insisted, it’s tough.
