Endometrial Scratch

My clinic have advised me to have an endometrial scratch this month as I've now had 3 failed transfers. Has anyone had this procedure before? Any advice would be welcome, I'm a little scared as it doesn't sounds pleasant!

Hi, I had one recently and it was fine. I felt mild discomfort whilst they did the procedure, which lasted about 30 seconds. I took ibuprofen and paracetamol one hour beforehand, which might have helped.

The only thing I would warn about is that the doctor doing the procedure seemed to have her face rather close to my vulva. I imagine it's because they need to be really precise. I normally don't feel any self consciousness during scans etc but there was something about this procedure that seemed a bit too intimate Confused

It was fine overall though. And I haven't given another thought to what I've just said above until now!

I had it. It's unpleasant but I honestly wouldn't go as far as to call it painful. Like period pain for me and even then not too bad.

I agree with PP - it's intimate, but then so is the rest of it. I'm sure we're all too use to being prodded and poked down there! I think found it more intimate because the nurse held my hand (unnecessary but very kind of her). Unfortunately it just added to my embarrassment!

Thanks so much both! Sorry for late reply been trying to stay off my phone as much as possible.

Did either of you have success following the procedure?

Yes! DS is 7 months Smile It was my first try though so no way of knowing if it mattered, but when I have another FET, I'll want everything to be the same.

I’ve had 3 scratches and 3 successful implantations. Yes, it’s not the most pleasant experience, but it’s not bad either. Paracetamol beforehand is a good idea. It’s over very quickly though and can just leave you with some period type cramps - nothing major. Good luck x
