First positive ovulation test!

So after trying with apps for 6 months to no avail (and using cheapy ovulation tests which I was never getting a positive)

Bought clear blue digital ovulation and this morning got my first positive CD14

I am over the moon, my question is... should I do it all day? Me and my partner are both not working at the moment due to Covid!

And how long will ovulation last?

Thanks in advance!

First positive ovulation test!

Congrats!

The test is sensing the LH surge so the egg will be released some time in the next 12-48 hours (average 24h). The ovulation itself is just an egg popping out of follicle so that happens very quickly. The uncertainty with timing comes from not knowing if your egg is popping out closer to 12 hours or 48. Once the egg pops it has up to 24 hours to be fertilised.

Because sperm takes time to swim to the egg it's best to have sex every 2 days in the lead up (5-6 days) and to 2 days post ovulation - for the uncertainty with when ovulation exactly occurs. Sex 24hrs before ovulation (i.e. today when your LH surge is going) is most fertile time. That way the sperm will be ready to greet the new egg. Sperm can hang around for several days before they die.

Second daily sex is better than daily. Overdoing it with sex doesn't leave the sperm time to regenerate enough. So not really advised to have sex all day from the fertility point of view. But if you've got the free time and desire - go for it! This journey's hard enough without sex being a chore Grin.
