IVF with fibroids

Hi everyone, just wondering if anyone has been successful with IVF with a fibroid that protruded into the uterine cavity? We are due to start our first IVF round next month and have been told that I have a small (2cm) intramural fibroid which slightly pokes into the back of my uterus. I have been told that it doesn't need to be operated on as it is small but I got the impression that there would be a problem if it got a lot bigger. I have been pregnant in the past (this ended in miscarriage) so I guess this means that an embryo can implant and we have male factor issues to make things more complicated but after googling madly (never a good idea), I am worried that this fibroid will limit our chances of success. It wasn't my consultant who did the scan so I wasn't able to speak to her about my concerns.

Also, for anyone with fibroids, did the stims make the fibroids grow? My understanding is that they feed off estrogen so I'm also worried that stims will make the fibroid bigger.

Bumping this for you as I would also like to know x

Hi, also have a small fibroid but it’s not affecting the uterine cavity. It wasn’t affected by the stims or x3 medicated FETs. X

I was told pretty much the same news about a fibroid just before starting IVF and it didn't cause any problems, though I remember having the same worries as you. It's not been mentioned since (and I've been through multiple scans and c-section), so I don't even know if it's still there!

Thanks those who replied (and for bumping @ForeverHopeful17), for some reason I didn't get any notifications for this thread so presumed that nobody replied.

@Lemongrass1 Thanks, its good to hear that the fibroid wasn't affected by the drugs.

@Chooklass Thanks, that's so reassuring to hear. It just never sounds good when you're told there is anything in there that shouldn't be but I probably just need to trust the professionals. We got a summary letter which was clear that there was no significant distortion of the cavity so I probably just need to get that tattooed onto the palm of my hand or something Wink

@Neelablue Thanks, its good to know the fibroids were monitored and unaffected by stims. I've never done this before and am a natural worrier so it's helpful to hear that fibriods haven't been a problem for other people. Congratulations on having your son! I have heard that pregnancy can make them smaller.

@goldflakepaint do you mind me asking how you got on? I’m just prepping for my FET. First fresh failed. I’ve got a 1cm fibroid impinging on my cavity but doesn’t look in the cavity. It’s a big procedure with the open surgery and they said we will review if the FET fails. Just feel so deflated before I’ve even had the transfer.
