Hi all

I started on clomid due To pcos last year ovulated but did not conceive I was then referred for a laparoscopy and have not conceived the doctors have advised me I can ask to be referred for ivf now or try letrozole has anyone been in the same situation? I would love to hear any success stories with the letrozole as I am not convinced this would work either x

This is very similar to mine. We have been TTC for over 2 years now. Did 6 months on Clomid with no joy so we’re given the same choice. Try letrozole or straight to ivf. We have chosen to try letrozole for 6 months first

Letrozole didn't work for me (DIUI's) but I also didn't have any real side effects on it either personally (and it helped me produce more than 1 egg per cycle so statistically should have given me a better chance).

So if you are fairly young and can afford timewise to try it for 3 -6 months, it could be worth a go as IVF can be a lot more gruelling on the body.

Thank you both for your replies @hd85 how are you getting on? I am on my second month of letrozole currently taking 2.5mg and on cycle days 3 to 7 how many mg are you taking and what cycle days? @iamnotwhouthinkiam did you go down the ivf route?. I personally think I will be choosing this option next as I have been through clomid plus injections and ovarian surgery to help and nothing yet xx

Yes, I went down the IVF route - unfortunately the first round didn't work, so hoping to start my second soon. While the IVF meds are definitely harder on my body than letrozole, I was expecting it to be terrible - so it was quite manageable in comparison to my fears!

I’ve just finished my second cycle too on letrozole. I’m 2.5mg days 2-6 and my bloods were 45 on cycle 1 to show ovulation occurred and the dose was right. But no joy yet so got 4 more months on these.

Good luck to you too @Lotusflower1990000 . I'm sure you'll find it fine if it comes to you needing IVF, I just had some temporary sickness/nausea and that was on a really high dose.
