First Consultation Tomorrow, partner extremely anxious

Hello, we have our first consultation tomorrow, after being told not to expect it until March. We sent our form back in December as there was a delay in my Chlamydia test (I stupidly emptied the fluid out of the sample pot the first time before putting the swab in)

We know DP has low sperm count, motility and morphology, but it was slightly better on the second analysis (Sept & Oct.)

We also know I have a polyp which I am on the waiting list to have removed.

DP is very anxious about the appointment, and feels like he will get 'told off' for being obese. I think they are highly likely to tell him to try to lose weight, same for me although I am only slightly over *BMI 27.

What else happens? Infertility and cycle tracking has actually really damaged our sex life and caused lots of conflict around ovulation, do we tell them this?

How likely is it we'll be referred for IVF before my polyp is removed? We are 35 and have been trying two years now.

We had a two month break because I got a very long nasty UTI at one point. Do we tell them that? Will they detract those months from the two years trying.

Sorry if these are really stupid questions.

Hello!
They like bmi to be under 30, so you have nothing to worry about and to be honest, they've never weighed my partner throughout the 2+ years we've been under fertility specialists for treatment, so wouldn't worry. Obviously not sure if yours will, but in my case, they didn't.
My initial appt was a long time ago, so can't remember exactly what happens and may miss things out, but they just go through everything with you like how long you've been trying for, weigh you (in my case, this was only me), family history for any medical conditions. Then I had to have more appts for bloods, HyCoSy and other tests like the swabs. I know you've already had the swabs so unlikely you will at the appt tomorrow, but you will have a lot more of them if you're under the FS for a long time.
I personally wouldn't mention any of the issues you've mentioned. I think it's something a lot of people experience with infertility, stressing around ovulation because it's not so spontaneous and it's stressful knowing you have to have sex at a specific time not to miss the window.

Not sure on ivf prior to polyp removal as not something I've experienced myself. Hopefully someone who knows will be able to give advice.

I also wouldn't mention about the 2 month break either. I think the fact that you're both mid 30s and have been trying for approx. 2 years is enough to be seen for ivf.

Good luck with everything 🤞🏼🍀

Thank you so much

This is brilliant to know. I won't tell them the stress over ovulation then or the uti.
