Belfast clinics. GCRM or In Ovo (DR DIAKOS)

Hi. I have been trying to conceive for 12 months now and starting to look into IVF.

So far all my tests seem OK, my husband has low sperm count (6m) though good motility and normal morphology.

We have an appointment with Mr Ramsey in February to see what we can do to possibly improve sperm before going into ivf.

Does anyone in NI have clinic recommendations. I know there is only GCRM and a new clinic called In Ovo ran by Dr diakos. We went to in ovo for a consultation and they seemed to think ivf would be a good option, but advised us to try for another 6 months before going down that route. Has anyone has any experience of in ovo yet or Dr diakos? I just want to make sure we are making the right choice.

@Sjhigs I had around 30 follicles and had 20 eggs collected so I thought that was amazing.

However I ended up with only 1 good quality embryo and nothing for freezing.

Therefore try not to focus too much on the numbers as you never know what way it will work out.

@Nichola2310 I had sis and scan done today I only have 6 follicles in total not sure if itll be the same for my actual ivf cycle praying we get at least one good one 🙏

@Sjhigs before I started treatment I had about 12 follicles. The 30ish number was after 12 days of stims.

Congratulations x

Hello, I have my first appointment soon.
I've been reading up about the different female investigation they do. Can I ask if anyone has done this under sedation?

Sjhigs · 17/06/2021 08:00

@KBMD hi which investigations do you mean x

KBMD · 17/06/2021 08:24

Hello,
Transvaginal ultrasound scan,
Saline Infusion Scan (SIS)/ Hysterosalpingo Foam Sonography (HyFoSy)
Or any egg ratrval.
I have extreme phobia due to sexual abuse in my childhood.

@KBMD I haven't been put out for any as yet (trans, sis, hsg) the staff are really lovely very gentle I'm sure it's something you can discuss with them I know the sedation is 300 a time so could end up very costly. Ask on your consultation what your options are x

KBMD · 17/06/2021 08:54

@Sjhigs
Thank you so much. Will ask at appointment.

Has anyone at going to In Ovo been waiting over 3 months for them to reply. We have had initial consultation in may last year and follow up appointment was late November. We decided on what treatment we would like the next day and emailed them. Every time I send an email I'm told it's been passed on. It's now March and 3 months later and still nothing. Last email we were told they are very busy with clinic. This is very stressful and I'm feeling lost.

Cmw1985 · 23/01/2023 20:35

I had my first consult ion early December and have been waiting since every time I get in touch they say they will pass it on and get back to me

Stilltryingforbub1 · 24/01/2023 07:14

Hey, yes they can take a while at timed, I am also waiting but Dr d was off sick after Xmas and then the clinic got told they gad ab unexpected inspection coming. He's worth the wait but it's usually because he's the only Dr and handles all consulting himself.

I hope this helps x
I'm waiting on a review aswell to get started again x

Hi all, sorry to jump on an old post but I am trying to get some more information about the In Ovo clinic too.

my husband and I have been TTC for 2 years now and my dr has referred me to gynae but the waitlist is currently 3 years. My husband has booked for his semen analysis and if it comes back ok I assume the nhs will just tell us we have to wait on my gynae appointment so I was going to look into going private.

In Ovo do an IVF package for £5k has anyone with experience of them experienced are there many hidden costs on top of this please?

Stilltryingforbub1 · 20/06/2023 18:16

Hey I've been with ovo a few years now and found everything as it states no hidden charges etc the 5k just doesn't include your drugs and pre bloods, if my memory serves me correctly.
I have never had an issue with them, the only thing is expect to wait a while as Dr D is the only consultant but worth the wait.
Let me know if you have any more questions.

CloudySky82 · 20/06/2023 18:36

@Stilltryingforbub1 thank you for replying! Glad you’ve had a positive experience with them so far. Have you had a round of IVF with them do you mind me asking? Or have you been with them for a few years because it takes a while to get appointments?

as for the drugs needed for ivf are these different for everyone? If you ovulate regularly are they still needed do you know?

Stilltryingforbub1 · 20/06/2023 20:31

We are ongoing patients, I have had 1 fresh and 1 frozen cycle with ovo, recurrent implantation failure but that's not at fault of the clinic we done an ERA which discovered low progesterone. It's a long fickle process and some couples are successful quicker than others.

If your are going through ivf yes drugs are needed for everyone and varies depending on personal situation.
Investigation tests cost more also bit this is every clinic, 5k is for the treatment only and then drugs can cost £1000+ depending on what's needed.

Ask anything you wish I understand how it all feels it's very overwhelming, just be gentle with yourself it's a tough old journey no one cam prepare you both for x

Stilltryingforbub1 · 18/11/2023 12:15

Has anyone had neg hpt and then gone on to get positive blood test?😢
