FET first time success stories

Hi, feeling abit sad today.
Due to have a FET end of month/start of feb. Period is due tomorrow so it will most likely be late as I'm waiting to start my medication on day1.
Just getting abit nervous now though that it isn't going to work, it's my first time ivf so I know I shouldn't be expecting it to work straight away as that would make me very lucky. But obviously I'm praying that it does!
Also the nurse who rang me for the planning appointment freaked me out abit about lining, she said for some reason women who have a FET can have trouble getting the optimum lining. So now I'm worrying about that!

Can anyone share any success stories and give me some positive vibes?

Hey, I can't give any personal success story as I am yet to start my IVF journey, however, I have followed some people on Instagram and this lady had her FET. She said something that has stuck with me about her TWW during that time. Instead of thinking (although I know it's hard) that it's going to fail, take the time to enjoy the moment. Enjoy the two week wait and the possibility of being pregnant. If you are pregnant you may regret spending that time being worried and not taking it all in with your partner

I have read lots of success of first time FET though :) you've got this lovely! As hard as it is, try relax, try keep your mind occupied on things too.

Thank you for replying and for your kind words 🙂
It's all very new to me and quite nerve wracking but that advice is true and makes sense! I don't want to be miserable during the tww lol

Where are you on your journey?

You're welcome :)

I am on day 1 of my cycle before starting! So in 21 days I have to take northisterone and that's the start of things for me. I'm booked in for egg collection on the 26th February. So although it's been foreevver (or felt like it anyway) that we have been waiting, we're just pretty much at the start.

I have an AFC of 34 so I'm worried of OHSS when doing it so I'm already prepared for having to do an FET

elsaesmeralda · 13/01/2021 10:51

Is this your first cycle?
I didn't realise they could already book in egg collection, with me they had to go off scans and how I was reacting to the stims!

It does seem to take forever doesn't it. I'm waiting to start my second period after egg collection, due on today but normally I've had cramps or spotting by now and this time absolutely nothing, how typical! Don't even feel like I'm going to come on.

They thought I was at risk of ohss so I was only on a low dose of menopur but it seemed just right as we got 17 eggs, I was in a lot of pain for a few days after though.
I'm sure they'll tweak your meds just right for you !

Hey elsaesmerlda,

Congrats on getting 17 eggs what a great number!

I can give you my account.... I had a fresh transfer back in September which ended in a chemical pregnancy, this was our first ever ivf and we felt sooooo so lucky but it wasn’t to be. This does not mean at all it can’t happen for you.

Fast forward to October and our first FET, my lining was a but behind and there was some discrepancy with what date was CD1 so they put me on Estrogen suppositories as well and the usual Progesterone and lining was great on transfer day and am now 13 weeks. So try not to worry about things like that as the clinic usually have a solution.

Wish you all the best with your transfer xxxx

willithappen · 13/01/2021 14:18

@elsaesmeralda I thought it might vary depending on how I respond also but been told those are the dates. Will see what happens though when get nearer the time!

I'm going to be on the lowest dose of drugs also. Congrats on getting 17 eggs! How many embryos?

twinklestar2 · 13/01/2021 14:46

My first FET worked. Good luck 🙏

elsaesmeralda · 13/01/2021 16:58

@willithappen Its funny how every clinic is different too! Are you on a short protocol then? I was on menopur 125 and fyremadel.

So we got 9 embryos from that. 15 mature and 11 fertilised with icsi. I'm aware we're extremely lucky to have so many in the freezer but just starting to convince myself none will be able to implant, doesn't help I have huge anxiety anyways!

@Nobunintheovenyet thanks for sharing your story and congratulations!! That's amazing! I think your due a name change lol

Yes the lining thing I wasn't even aware of and now it's just something else to worry about!

@twinklestar2 thank you!!

11 in the freezer is amazing! I've only ever had 1 or 2 to freeze.

elsaesmeralda · 13/01/2021 19:23

@twinklestar2 sorry should have been clearer, 9 of the 11 made it to day 5 so there is 9 embryos in the freezer

9 is brilliant, you're really lucky. So don't stress and good luck 💐

TaVeryMuchLove · 13/01/2021 22:48

I’ve had 3 FET and all 3 resulted in pregnancies. Good luck x

WhineyMineyMoo · 14/01/2021 12:09

I know exactly how you feel, been there done that kind of thing so massive hug

It CAN totally work! Plus I don't think I've heard the trouble with the lining at FET. Quite the opposite actually, that FET tends to be more optimal than a Fresh Transfer since you didn't have stimulation / egg collection etc during the very same cycle (I don't have research data, just what I gathered during our many appointments!)

I had a fresh transfer in 2018 with a grade A embryo that resulted in a chemical pregnancy. I was too devastated and scared to try again straight away so after a year off, our second try ( but first FET ) with another grade A embryo was successful last year. Munchkin is napping right next to me so it CAN totally work. Just lots of positive thinking and PMA - I know it's so freaking hard but the only thing I did differently the second time around was to take a whateverhappenshappens approach - not even a single soul knew apart from me and DH so it was definitely a lot calmer experience. Thinking of you x

AfterGlow87 · 14/01/2021 17:17

I had my first IVF cycle in June - 14 eggs and ended up with 8 blasts. (I was honestly shocked to get so many). I had to have a freeze all cycle as my bloods were too high to proceed with a fresh transfer. I had an FET cycle the following month and am currently 24 weeks pregnant. I feel so incredibly lucky that my first transfer worked as I was very nervous. Wishing you the very best 🤞

Westnorwood · 14/01/2021 19:01

I’m currently 25 weeks with a frozen transfer. My fresh transfer failed and I was so sure that if the higher quality fresh failed I had no chance chance with the frozen. How wrong I was.

elsaesmeralda · 14/01/2021 19:48

Thank you everyone for the positive stories this has given me some hope!
I think because I've got pcos I'm expecting eqq quality to be rubbish but I guess they can't be that bad if they've made it to blasts! Here's hoping !! 🤞🏻🤞🏻 finally started spotting so can finally get the ball rolling
