IVF clinics in Herts

Hi everyone,

I’ll be starting my second round of IVF soon following a fresh cycle that failed at the end of last year. We will be going private. Had poor quality embryos last time and none to freeze, so looking at quality as my main concern.

I’m wondering if anyone has had any experience with Create in St Albans or IVF London in Elstree. Or any other clinic in Herts as keen to avoid travelling into London during Covid? Would be great to hear of your experiences please. Thanks 😊

Hi, I’m nearing the end of an IVF cycle at Herts and Essex Fertility Centre. Would really recommend them. Such a friendly clinic, all staff very knowledgeable. All treatment is at the centre (ie no need to go into London for egg collection which can be the case if you have treatment at some places which are satellite sites rather than full clinics). Easy parking on site and v good covid safety measures etc. I had a failed cycle at LWC earlier this year and so glad we moved to Herts and Essex for second, it is a world of difference.

Of the two you mentioned, we went to an open day at Create last year but weren’t so keen on the mild ivf route which is what they specialise in. Also I am pretty sure that you have to go into their London clinic for some elements of the treatment - the St Albans branch is literally a few rooms on top of a regular GP surgery.

@sazzt I really hope you get a positive outcome from this current cycle! Thanks for the recommendation.

Interesting about Create St Albans, I went to their open evening last week on Zoom and I’m sure they said they do all their things in house so I will certainly dig a little deeper with them.

Just wondering if you went to IVF london and if you can share your experience if you have? Thanks

Hey Op,

I was under the same impression as @sazzt about Create . If mild IVF is something you think would suit you , Create would be a good choice but you do have to travel to London, St Paul’s ( I think ) for the big stuff , the satellite centre only does scanning and maybe some blood work. I’m just about to start an NHS funded cycle so my choices were limited but Herts and Essex was a place of interest for me when I was thinking of going private. Best of luck!

Hi @norasol yes we went to IVF London in Elstree. And now we have a baby 🥰

They were fab on the whole, I do remember a couple of minor admin issues but their care was otherwise brilliant. Best of luck whatever you decide!

@ShiMo many thanks for responding. I went to IVF London for first consultation and they recommended duo stim and some add ons, but they will only decide once I do my stimulation. We are doubtful because they want us to pay for duostim even though we may not use it, which is a lot of money. Did you have this experience?

ShiMo · 28/02/2023 11:18

Can’t comment on the duo stims I’m afraid. If you don’t use it, can’t you get your money back?

Yes they said they would refund but in comparison to other clinics that only ask us to pay for one cycle and then pay the extra if/when required. Congratulations on the baby so encouraging to know.
