Progesterone bloods query

I'm waiting for the recurrent miscarriage clinic after having 3 losses in a row. My gp said to test progesterone levels ahead of them seeing me. She booked me in today as I had other bloods to get also for a different reason. I said to her I thought they were usually day 21 bloods (today is day 10 but I have a long cycle so day 21 for me should be like day 22) and she said to test anyway. That confused me? Can progesterone at any point in cycle be relevant to test? Thanks

The purpose of testing progesterone is to check if you’ve ovulated, it should rise after, its typically checked on day 21. When I had mine checked I booked in for 7 days after my tracking said I’ve ovulated. They say do it 7 days before you expect your period in longer cycles. I can’t see any purpose in doing a random one at this point in your cycle.
