Ovary scan now a phone call instead

Hi,

Have been referred by my GP for an ovary scan but have now got a letter from the hospital saying my appointment will now be a phone call. I totally understand why but it makes no mention of the scan itself being delayed or cancelled...
GP was a bit disparaging when referring so worrying it was never a scan anyway.

Anyone else experiencing similar?

@wannamammy is it a referral from your GP to a fertility clinic? It may have gone through as just a normal referral.

At the first one they used to talk over your history, height and weight test, smoke test, and a vaginal ultrasound. I'm not sure how clinics are operating now but sounds like they may call you to discuss this and then get things booked in for you from there.
So at my appointment I got all of that but they then decided I needed a HyCoSy also. So in your instance they may talk you through everything and then get it all booked in at once depending on what you need

Thanks for this! Hope all is going well for you. It was just a referral from GP to the gynaecology department of the hospital, rather than a separate clinic. Sounds like I might just need to jump through another hoop before the scan then. The lack of info just got me a bit anxious.

@wannamammy oh I completely understand and sympathise. If totally stuck maybe you could call them and just confirm? Sometimes you don't wanna do it as you feel you might be annoying but from what I have learned through my own experience and reading others something you have to take control yourself as things can get missed/done wrong behind the scenes.

We've had a lot of hoops to jump through. Hopefully get started in a couple weeks (just waiting for my Jan period to come so we can get started!)

I have been waiting for a scan since ekng referred in September and got referred to fertility clinic in December. I received a call from gynaecology last week for my scan and they said it would be telephone call 🤨. They them asked if I had heard from fertility clinic yet, I said no... they said they can't do the scan appointment because it would cancel out my fertility referall and vice versa! So no scan for me and no fertility appointment untill at least the end of February.
