IVF pregnancy

Hi, just wondering if anyone can provide any reassurance at all or has had a similar situation. I've managed to fall pregnant from a FET, transfer date was 30th Nov. I went for viability scan today and first thing is the doctor was dating me just over 6 weeks - which confused me as I thought they would date an IVF pregnancy from 2 weeks prior to transfer which would make me 7 weeks ish now?

However main issue is that the gestational sac was visible measuring 10.5mm, which is around 5 weeks old (so doctor said it's measuring a week behind, although I think it might be 2 weeks behind?!) He could see something very tiny inside the sac but said too early to tell, so I'm to go back in a week. Has anyone else experienced this - the sac dating a whole week behind at such an early stage? I'm praying for a positive outcome but not hopeful. I should also say that I've had some brown spotting, very minor amounts, but def there. I think I'm going to miscarry but the doctor didn't seem overly concerned, just said we will know more in a week. Has anyone else had a similar situation?

Sorry, I don't really know anything to reassure you but didn't want to read and not reply. My instinct would be if the doctor wasn't concerned then try not to worry too much, but that must be impossible.

@stephanieee84 if it was a day 5 embryo transfer you need to count back 5 days or if it was a 3 day transfer then you count back 3 days as the start date so either way around 6 weeks is accurate. Good luck

Thank you both so much for replying! I'm going to try and keep busy this week to take my mind off it, but that's easier said than done!

@MabelG - I was thinking you would need to count back 3 days (it was a 3 day transfer) and then another 2 weeks from there to get back to a theoretical last period date? Having said that, my husband keeps telling me that the doctor knows better than me which I'm sure he does

The margin for error at measuring when it’s so small it quite high so try not to worry just yet. In another week you should know but I know a week is a lifetime. How far along was the clinic expecting you to be?

@Whatelsecouldibecalled thanks. They were expecting me to be 6 weeks from what he said, but was only measuring 5. It's all so stressful! Fingers crossed next week there's been some growth!

So stressful for you, but as others have said, it’s tiny at this stage, so margins for error are huge. I remember being dated differently with my IVF pregnancy but can’t remember the dates, sorry. Do keep us updated though, rooting for you, x

A week ‘behind’ could very well be a miscalculation. My clinic wouldn’t scan before 7 weeks as they said it was too hard. Have got everything crossed for you

My clinic also only scans after 7 weeks.
