Empty bladder embryo transfer

Hello,

Just got back from my embryo transfer and worried as I needed the loo so bad I had to empty my bladder right before. I tried to only empty half so I'm guessing there was still some in there. The nurse didn't say there was a problem but now paranoid after all that ivf hard work I've let myself down at the last point! Quite a funny post but feel worried as usual! 😂 Has anyone else been successful with an empty bladder on transfer day?

My first transfer they had to manually fill my bladder with saline as I couldn't hold enough (endo on my bladder) that failed, 2nd was under sedation so empty bladder and that worked (but MC) 3rd was a different clinic and and I was awake but they requested an empty bladder, that one worked and I had my son. The full bladder helps them get a clearer image so can make transfer easier and more comfortable for you, they wouldn't complete the transfer unless they were sure they could visualise what they needed to

I did the same and my embryo is now a 17month old toddler 😌 I don’t think it matters I think it’s only to help the embryologist see better, nothing to do with the embryo etc as you don’t hold your bladder full when conceiving naturally so don’t worry about it at all

Good luck x

Sorry about your miscarriage Lauren. Last cycle (our first ivf) I carried to 8 weeks and then lost the baby. Found out he would have been a boy but now I just see him as an angel looking over us (cheesy I know but helps.) Two day 2 embryos put back in so just hoping and praying and if not we will go again. I nearly didn't get to egg collection as our van broke down in the snow and a stranger had to drop me off! Felt like I was in a film or nativity scene 😂

I thought the full bladder thing was just about what they can see, so if they were happy to do it and didn't tell you they couldn't see well enough, I'm sure it was OK. They said it was fine for me to go to the loo straight after so it can't be about keeping the embryo in or anything.

Thanks. It wasn't to be this time. I'm sure it was nothing to do with the transfer. Both embryos failed. Feeling pretty flat 😢 I have extremely ow amh at 36 so this was one of our last chances. Have to wait 2 months to get back in the clinic. Can't see much of a way forward atm.
