Hi all I just wondered if anyone has experienced day 21 bloods showing no sign of ovulation?

Been ttc for around 16/17 months. Been off the pill for 2.5years. I suffer from really heavy periods. I also have had irregular cycles since coming off the pill. However have improved over the past year and normally between 27 and 35 days.

Had bloods last year for possible pcos but we’re ok. Can’t remember exact bloods and never told numbers.

October this year had day 21 bloods which showed no sign of ovulation but had a 42day cycle and irregular bleed. Repeated blood next cycle which were taken last week done on day 25. Just been told no sign of ovulation. Been told should repeat again next cycle but not sure what next steps will be. Feeling a bit frustrated at getting nowhere.

Has anyone had similar?

Hi @Rosie189. I dont have exactly the same experience but have had a few blood tests now and can sympathise with your frustrations.

Been off contraception for almost 3 years and no sign of any pregnancy.
Had bloods over a year ago which were normal but have been back to my GP in the last few months to discuss.
Was sent for day 21 bloods which gave me a result of 16 which I was told was too low and to repeat in a months time.
Spoke to the GP at length about the timing of the bloods as a day 21 sample is great if you have a 28 day cycle, which I rarely have. GP was adament it had to be on day 21 but ive just gone with 7 DPO instead as I think that would be more accurate.
Ive also had an ultrasound which was normal.
Hubby has had semen analysis which is also normal.

Ive been advised that depending on my latest bloods we will be referred for a fertility appt somrwhere.
Apparently the GP wont do any more than the basic tests.

Maybe its worth asking for referral but in the meantime get a scan and ask your partner if he will go for an appointment too for peace of mind (if he hasnt already). These are the tests a fertility clinic will do anyway so could always get the basics out the way.
Fingers crossed for you

Hi I'm currently on clomid 50mg 1st month ovulated 2nd month didn't and 3rd currently waiting on results. I too have this worry my bloods are to be day 21 also but my periods are irregular??

@Flutterby8 thank you. Husband has test booked for mid jan as was earliest we could get an appointment as they haven’t been doing them due to covid. Slightly worried it will be cancelled due to covid as well.

How did you get your scan? Did GP arrange? Seems to be just bloods mine are offering. I’ve had a scan discussed before more so because my periods are bad (7-9 days and heavy as well as irregular) but never got anywhere with getting one.

I’ve considered going private for an assessment but not sure.

I’ve to call back today and hoping they’ll let me repeat bloods today as think this is 7 days post ovulation. Not sure if they’ll let me do it twice in one cycle.

My GP arranged a scan and 21 day bloods at the same time. Scan was done at a GP surgery as they have mobile ultrasonographers and saves going anywhere near a hospital. The service is really good actually, I was booked in within a couple of weeks and got my results the next day.
Hubby also had his testing done recently and again, no real wait as didn't need an 'appointment' as such. He just had to collect a sample pot and book a time with the lab to drop the sample off as it has to be tested within 1 hour.
Hr did have to chase his results though as they were normal so the GP doesn't routinely call to give them out.

If you speak to your GP they can arrange a scan. Obviously different areas of the UK will have different protocols but I don't see why they can't do it.
