HSG and antibiotics

Hi

Wondering if any ladies who’ve had a HSG can help. Had a phone appointment with my clinic during which I’m sure the consultant said I’m meant to start taking antibiotics the day before my HSG, although it was all a bit of a blur to be honest as I wasn’t expecting him to be SO negative about my FSH and be told ‘not to get my hopes’ up for either natural or IVF conception.
Anyway, my HSG is booked for the end of the month and so far have had no more info about this. I’ve tried several times to ask the clinic but they’re an absolute nightmare when it comes to communication.
I’m just wondering if should try and get some from the GP or whether they’re even necessary as they weren’t prescribed when I had a colposcopy a few years ago 🤷🏻‍♀️.

Any advice would be very welcome, thank you.

Hi when I had a HSG I did have to take antibiotics the day before, the day of and the day after the procedure. I had it with the NHS so the antibiotics were prescribed by the consultant not my gp. I am not sure how it will work for you but I would suggest to continue asking your clinic.

I wasn't given antibiotics for my hsg last Summer and I didn't have any problems after, so I wouldn't be overly concerned if you don't have them in advance. Good luck.

Thanks ladies, much appreciated. My clinic finally got back to me so all clarified now.
