IVF and antiphospholipid syndrome

Hi all,

After 6 losses at various stages in the last 18 months (last loss was 2.5 weeks ago), i am about to start IVF.

My losses were due to antiphospholipid syndrome and egg quality.

I am waiting for my periods to return, likely in about 2 weeks, to start the downregulation cycle. I will subsequently have 2-3 stimulation cycles back to back to batch embryos. And then embryos will be PGS tested.

My hematologist, who is hard to reach, said that some medications should be added during the procedure. But that is it. I feel very lost and alone by this lack of communication :(

For those of you who are undergoing IVF with APS, have you been prescribed aspirin + heparin from the beginning (like during a pregnancy)?

Thanks in advance for your help :)
Take care xxx

So sorry for your losses. I have a form of APS and went through 6 horrific losses myself.

Clexane from a few days before embryo transfer until 30something weeks made the difference for me. I get very heavy bleeds and clots in every pregnancy but the key for my last pregnancy was to continue with the clexane regardless of the bleeding. Aspirin sadly did not help me and made my bleeding terrifyingly heavier.

Best of luck!

Hi @Oceanfox

Thank you so much for your reply!

I am still waiting for my consultants to contact me. Also, since last saturday, the skin on my upper body is entirely mottled/marbled, I am a bit worried that it could be another symptom of APS... and i am receiving not treatment at the moment.

From reading you, I suppose you did have your rainbow baby :) That is so nice!

Take care xx
