Has anyone else got these unhelpful threads in Infertility?

I've tried to attach an image.
The top thread is called "Expecting a baby" and the bottom thread is "Share your stories about your children's favourite toys".
In between are plenty of threads from people going through the pain of Infertility.
That's pretty poor Mumsnet.

Looking for support as I face another childless (clearly not by choice) Christmas and this is what I find.

I know some women are here due to secondary infertility and their children might have favourite toys but 4 Christmases ago I was on my first IVF round and many more since and no child. So could do without these showing up on this topic.

I know some people won't be bothered by this but I imagine I'm not the only one who is.

It shouldn't be so difficult to stop putting baby targeted adverts in the Infertility section @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet @soniamumsnet @mnhq

@LongerthanMrTicklesarms I don't have any adverts at all on the app on this section, if you are using the website could you maybe try to switch to the app? I know you shouldn't have to, but if it saves some heartache it'll be worth it x

LongerthanMrTicklesarms · 04/01/2021 22:30

Thanks for the tip @ivfjourney5 x
No ads at all would be nice! Maybe I could pay for premium but I mainly hang around this forum.

@mnhq @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet @soniamumsnet please can you have another look at this issue?

@MNHQ, why is this STILL happening?

Scirocco · 20/02/2021 11:00

The "Baby says No" one actually made me cry yesterday @MNHQ. These need to be stopped - this is where we come for support, we need this to be a safer space.

LongerthanMrTicklesarms · 20/02/2021 11:30

@Scirocco 💐 @ShulamithFirestone 💐
And for others who come here for a safe space.
I've had years of infertility, it doesn't get easier, and it's pretty crap when even here the reminders pop up.

Hello - we're so, so sorry this is happening again. We're investigating now.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 20/02/2021 17:11

Hello everyone - thanks for bearing with us. It should be fixed now. Flowers

@MNHQ @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet @soniamumsnet
If I ever need a breast pump or anti colic bottles I'll be sure to click on your MAM advert but after years of infertility it's not likely to be any time this year.
Could it please be arranged that the Infertility board is a safe space away from advertising of products marketed at pregnant women or new mothers.
Just one little corner of Mumsnet?

@MNHQ PLEASE SORT THIS OUT. It keeps happening, and it really shouldn't. I know it's all about ad revenue, but please have some compassion.

Scirocco · 11/03/2021 07:16

@MNHQ the coding to sort this out really wouldn't be very complex or take a long time to implement. That this issue keeps coming up is extremely distressing for people. Please fix this.

soniamumsnet · 12/03/2021 12:52

Hi @SenecaTrewe @LongerthanMrTicklesarms @Scirocco sorry to hear you're experiencing this again. We're investigating now. Flowers

Scirocco · 12/03/2021 15:09

I've just had an ad in this thread, for the attention of "all UK mums" to tell them about life insurance. Wording and ad placement matter.

Also, when I see an inappropriately placed ad, it doesn't just mean I don't click on the link. I remember companies for whom I've seen inappropriate ads and I'm less likely to make any purchases from them in future or to click on any links from them.

LongerthanMrTicklesarms · 09/04/2021 10:16

What kids will I be entertaining with Disney+ @soniamumsnet @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet

I'm here because the long, difficult, expensive journey trying to have them still hasn't worked out.

As @Scirocco says 'Wording and ad placement matter'.

@soniamumsnet @YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet @mnhq

Is there any chance the Infertility boards could be free of child-focused advertising please?

Agree with all of the above, of course we understand the site needs ads to run but can these ads not be focused on pregnant women and new mothers? I don't think you understand how upsetting and triggering it is.
This forum is one of the few places I can discuss these issues openly, I'm sure many others are in the same boat. I don't want to have to avoid these forums too due to the ads.

Yokey · 13/04/2021 10:27

I think this is disgusting on a forum founded for support. If you cannot correct this issue (and it seems you can't) why not make this part of the site ad free? It's not particularly high-traffic anyway compared to other topics. I'm sure many women here visit other sections of the site so plenty of opportunity to exploit for advertising revenue elsewhere. It's the right thing to do.

YetAnotherBeckyMumsnet · 13/04/2021 12:52

@LongerthanMrTicklesarms thanks for flagging this and sorry again for the upset caused. We will investigate why it keeps happening.
