I’ve been taking metformin for the past 8 months due to irregular periods .
How long is it okay to take this for ? Or just ongoing thoughout my life ?

I'm on metformin too and had assumed I'd just take it for life! It's really helped with my PCOS symptoms and when I came off it as an experiment about a year ago I really felt in. Sorry I don't have a more concrete answer! I've been on it for about 3 years.

I've been on it for more than 10 years for PCOS symptoms and Type 2 Diabetics are often on it for life (usually with only minor/temporary side effects - eg. stomach upsets if dosage needs to increase).

It's also apparently taken off - label as a cheap cancer preventative measure in some countries, so I wouldn't be so quick to come off the metformin personally! (obviously unless your doctor says otherwise or you get bad side effects).
