Cyclogest constipation - I need serious help!

I have never felt so rough from constipation! I had an egg collection last Friday and a fresh embryo transfer today, and I've been taking cyclogest twice a day. I haven't been to the toilet since Thursday, almost a week ago. My stomach is so swollen and sore snd I'm starting to feel really sick. What can I do? I've tried laculose and movicol (I took 6 one after the other then another 2 a few hours later yesterday!).

I really don't want to end up damaging the chances of the embryo transfer success by taking anything but I'm at my wits end.

Any advice??

Prunes. Soak it, blend it, drink it. I hope you feel better soon X

I was advised to drink plenty of water and eat bran by my clinic! There's alternative laxatives that work differently to movicol/lactulose you can ask the chemist about too?xx

You must feel so awful. I've suffered from constipation due to ivf treatment and meds but only 3 days at most- I can't even imagine a week! I would suggest contacting your clinic or Gp- not all medicines are ok to take so close before your transfer. When I had it my consultant said it was really common- also the antibiotics they give you during egg collection causes constipation. They prescribed me a suppository that helped a tiny bit and got things moving again. Also drinking lots of warm water gave me some comfort. Good luck-hope you feel better soon xxx

Thanks all!

@Matilda128 it's so awful isn't it. I've never had anything like this before and I can't believe how unwell it's making me feel! I'm going to call my GP in the morning but I feel apprehensive as I know there is a limit to what I can do while the embryo is still trying to nestle in.

Beans , prune juice . I also use fibrogel. Loads of water and moving around . Hope you feel better soon x

Thanks @Sunshinelove8 - I actually got my OH to get me some prune juice this morning and I haven't been off the toilet since! Think it's probably a combination of things I've tried over the last few days. Now my stomach is cramping snd I'm worried it's going to affect the embryo we had transferred 🙄 can't win!

Cup of decaf tea always helps my stomach settle or some milk x I had food poisoning before my last pregnancy and still got pregnant ( had it the week of bfp) if they are stickers - they are tough and won’t be affected ! Best of luck x

I'm completely the same- going from one extreme to the other. Please try not to worry though- stomach cramps are completely normal and they won't do anything to the embryo. I may try prune juice myself in the future - does it taste as horrible as I imagine? Good luck xxx

@Matilda128 it's impossible isn't it! Prune juice is awful but not as awful as I expected - and it seemed to work!
