Normal percentage of fertilised eggs?

Hey everyone! Total newbie to IVF here and just completed my first cycle ICSI, 11 eggs but a few were immature and some abnormal so they injected 7 and 5 fertilised...the embryologist told me that's quite a good percentage but to me it seems like less than half the eggs we had have fertilised which I'm quite upset about.
I just wondered if that was to be expected from other people's experiences? (Obviously I know a lot will depend on people's own reasons for IVF and which protocol etc) x

That seems fairly normal and there will be further drop off. My last round was normal in terms of stats- 13 eggs, 10 injected, 8 fertilised, 6 still going on day 3, 3 blastocysts on day 5. I think it’s like between 50-70% won’t make it to blast stage.

I had a couple of rounds like this - I changed protocol in the end and fertilisation went from 30% to 100%

Rough estimation would be 75%-80% fertilisation rate and from that 50%-60% may make it to blast

Thanks everyone, I think I was just in a panic this morning but I've done some reading on this since! Just have to wait now, fingers crossed! wow @ivfbeenbusy will keep that in mind!x

Plenty of hope left, I got 11 eggs, 9 mature, 5 fertilised and made it to day 3 so I was thinking that’s a big drop off, but I ended up with 3 blastocysts frozen. I’m nearly 42, on mild IVF. I’ve realised the drop off percentages are normal, in fact my day 3 to 5 ratio was probably better than expected for my age. Best of luck.
