Any advice for pessaries

Sorry for the post, it might not be an issue for others but I'm struggling with the thought of daily pessaries! (Won't go into it in too much detail but due to a previous experience I often struggle with smears and even tampons)
I did my first one today and paranoid I haven't pushed it in far enough (sorry tmi!) Partner says it will be easier as I keep doing it, I was wondering if anyone else had any issues or any tips? XX

I'm sorry you're struggling 😔 Could you ask for the injection form of progesterone instead? Lubion is a common injection. I'm sure if you explain your reasoning like you have here then the clinic should be able to help you out. If not, the pessaries can usually be taken in both the front and back, have you tried if it's any easier using the other way, hopefully that might help x

Thank you @ivfjourney5 I will bear that in mind if I continue to struggle over the next few days...I'm on cyclogest and they are so messy! (I've read that's normal but also adding to my paranoia they aren't absorbing!)

If you can get your head around it, go up the back route. No mess and fully absorbed.

ArtfulScreamer · 21/11/2020 20:15

I had cyclogest and found back door so much easier, less mess and less irritation.

If you cant feel it you have pushed it enough.

I also found taking it at night after a warm shower helps

For those who have tried the back route, does this need to be after a bowel movement in the morning (if you're regular enough to predict these things!)? I'm worried if i put one in and then go the toilet, i will lose the pessary.

I was advised to try the back route and it gave me the runs! Everyone is different so this might just be me because I am quite sensitive to a lot of things.

When I was doing the pessaries I normally lay there for about 20 minutes after so I knew it had a bit of time to dissolve before it could "fall out" if that makes sense. I know this isn't practical for some, but every time I've been on the pessaries I've luckily been working from home so I had the option to just lay.

It doesn't ever 'fall out'! It's designed to stick to the vagina walls and the vagina isn't 'open' so to speak! It's held in there well!

Any discharge is normal. Some people clean inside every few days but I wouldn't do that, I leave mine well alone and let it naturally get expelled when my body wants it to be

I use the applicators to insert it and I've done it as far as it will go, been laid for 20 minutes, then gone about my day, been to the loo a couple of hours later and practically the whole tablet has been there. So I'm just speaking for my self. Thats happened on more than one occasion.

poinsettiared · 02/12/2020 16:23

My pessaries are a gel

Roo45 · 02/12/2020 16:34

Thanks everyone, luckily I've got used it it now and yes if I have time I do lay down for a bit. X
