Anyone had better success on round 2

Hi everyone, we are due to start another round of IVF at a different clinic in the coming months. We only had three eggs retrieved round one with two fertilizing, but one was immature and the other had a cracked zone. Obviously we are really hoping this next round goes better and we are trying a mild approach to IVF this time. Has anyone had any better outcomes after a crappy first round? Thanks

Hi @Sian7919 I will see you one crappy round and raise you two crappy rounds!! 🙈 My ivf’s have gone as follows:

#1 5 eggs retrieved, 4 mature and fertilised, no embryos on day 5

#2 7 eggs retrieved, 4 mature and fertilised, all arrested day 3

#3 7 eggs retrieved, only 2 mature and fertilised - both reached blast on day 6

#4 13 eggs retrieved, 8 mature and fertilised, 3 day 5 top quality blasts.

So as you can see the outcomes are massively different from round to round.

Round 1 and 2 I was on low dose of Stims, round 3 on max dose menopur and had been taking DHEA plus cleaned up diet, round 4 clinic added leteozole to max dose menopur, still taking DHEA and actually had a normal round in terms of number eggs, drop off and blastocysts. So for me I actually responded better on more medication.

Good luck with your 2nd round!!!

Hi @Racinglikeapronow thanks for responding. What age are you if you don’t mind me asking. We’re doing a three cycle package with Create. I really hope we get some good blasts, emotionally and financially it will be so hard to try again if we don’t :(

Btw how did your transfers go? Did you take anything special/immune meds for transfers or are you banking? Sorry to hear you are having such a tough journey. It’s such a cruel process!

I’m 34! I did my 1st round at 32 though. So i am doing better as I get older and my AMH drops dramatically!! 🤷‍♀️

I’ve only done one transfer which was negative. I am now doing embryo banking so round 4 was embryo banking round 1. I will do two more in Feb and April. I just had my immunes tested so I am waiting on those results and am also going to do an ERA/ALICE/EMMA before transfer. Also PGS testing the embryos. So hoping the kitchen sink approach will work. If we get 2-3 blasts per round maybe 2-3 in total will be PGS normal.

So I’m doing similar to you but on max dose rather than mild. Hopefully embryo banking will work out for you too.

What’s the ERA/ALICE/EMMA entail? Never heard of them... my consultant stated she would want me on high dose steroids for transfer as I have auto immune disease... I’m already taking Azothiaprine (which does reduce NKC already)... My dr is the head of recurrent miscarriage at my local teaching hospital, so I’m hoping I’m in safe hands. I am a lot older than you tho, 41 and unfortunately my health isn’t the best. I’ve been taking all the vitamins though and I’m just really hoping the embryo banking will help. X

Hello

Yes! Our first round failed spectacularly with 14 eggs retrieved - 9 mature - none fertilised 😢

Our second round I was on a much lower dose of stims as my AFC was much higher. We got 9 eggs, 6 mature, 4 fertilised and all 4 made it to top quality blasts. We have unfortunately just miscarried at 6 weeks with our first fresh transfer so will look to do a FET early next year. So there’s definitely hope, it’s so so hard but just try to stay positive xx
