Run up to natural FET

Question for anyone who's done a natural FET. I had a day 12 scan yesterday and the woman doing the scan said because one follicle was already quite large I should come in for daily scans until ovulation. However my conversation with the nurse last week suggested to me that after this initial scan (which is actually my second as I had a baseline scan on day 3 too) I'd then be testing for my LH surge every morning and just coming in for scans when it started to peak (which it hasn't). On top of this, my cycle is 30-32 days so I don't usually get a peak til day 15-16, so any scans today/tomorrow really seem too early. I appreciate timing is important but it's a 2.5 hour round trip and I have a full time job, so also don't want to go in without good reason!

I'm trying to get confirmation this morning from the nurses, but in the meantime, how did everyone else's run up to FET go? Did you have scans for days in run up to ovulation? Or just a couple beforehand?

@LennyFitz never done a natural FET (only medicated) but sounds like they are basing it on lead follicle size which will be the most accurate rather than POAS

Thanks for reply - yes they are. I heard back from the nurse and I'm going in for appt. My gut tells me it's too early still, but best to play it safe. I don't want to miss it and have to push the transfer to the new year!

@LennyFitz this is the thing, if you ovulate you are then on a path to AF (or embryo transfer) so it is vital to know when that is going to happen. I once did a medicated FET and I was close to ovulation but my lining wasn't right they had to introduce cetrotide and then give me a trigger shot to ensure timings worked out! Good with the cycle Smile

I'm currently doing a natural FET. No real advice as I'm just at the start but, as I ovulated on day 12 on my monitoring cycle, they've asked me to come on for my mid-cycle scan on day 7 for this "real" cycle. I also thought it seemed a bit early as i usually ovulate on day 12-13 but they explained that they just don't want to chance missing ovulation. I'm also 2hours away from them, and it's a pain. I think I'm going to stay in a hotel for the week between ovulation and ET because I've been told I'll be having daily blood tests! Good luck!

@PineappleC Sorry, just seen this. Two hours is a long trip, so I understand your frustration (mine was 1 hour and that was annoying enough).

Yes I ended up going in on day 13. I decided it was probably the only time I'm doing this, so I might as well suck it up and go in just to be sure. But my expectations were correct and I didn't to get an ovulation confirmation til day 16 (and apparently only just), so I ended up going in 5 days in a row. Even in hindsight it's a difficult one - I understand it's the clinic's responsibility to be as thorough as possible but I don't think there's quite enough understanding that the client may know their own body/cycle very well, and may also have other responsibilities going on at the same time. Most of us can't pause everything else in our lives while undergoing fertility treatment. Combined with work deadlines and daily travel, it was quite a knackering week.
