Any out there?

I know it starts with an egg raves about it and it should be consultant prescribed.

Would love to hear some personal experiences!

Dhea is not clear cut. Someone who has a positive story may have had a completely different baseline level of testosterone to you so positive stories are not really relevant.

If you think you might need DHEA you need to get your testosterone checked and go from there.

Hello,

I haven't personally tried it but did discuss with my consultant (I have low AMH which is one of the issues it is suggested it may help with). He was very clear there is insufficient evidence to support its use and did not recommend it. I would discuss with whichever consultant you're under the care of and take their advice. I definitely would not self-medicate or take it without informing your consultant - it influences other hormones and therefore affects your cycle, so if you are taking it (even against medical advice) your doctor needs to be aware. I would say the same for any supplements really, but especially this one as it directly interferes with your hormone levels.

@MGee123 thanks for your reply :) my consultant prescribed it to me for low testosterone. He's going to repeat blood tests in 6 weeks to check for any change. He said that it will possibly help my concieve more easily without heavy intervention like IVF - as so far I don't respond well to IVF meds.

Sorry I didn’t mean to sound harsh. Just there can be very mixed reviews of DHEA and it’s important not to see it as a cure all. On the thread I linked x2 posters had their best number of blastocysts and one had a cycle cancelled so it is important not to be lured in by a success story and to use it with a consultant and regular checks only. I see you are not doing IVF though and I think most here are so it’s a different comparator again. I do have a friend who used DHEA but she has not had any success yet and is thinking of moving on to IVF.
