Med costs

Hi- I’m about to start IVF meds and did a bit of a call around to check costs. Tried my clinic, Boots, Asda, Fertilitity2U and a couple local pharmacies. Weirdly, my private clinic was the cheapest, mainly because of the costs of Menopur. It was still hugely expensive at over £2k for 8 doses. I heard ASDA was much more cost effective but it was more expensive. Have prices rocketed because of CV-19 or is this normal?

Not sure what your Menopur dose is but I've bought it recently from Fertility2u for £20 per 150iu vial, which was the daily dose for me for 10 days of stims so even if your dose was double or triple that you would need to be taking it for a long time to add up to £2k.
I've bought a refrigerated version of Menopur too from a fairly expensive local pharmacy and it still wouldn't have been £2k but again depends on the dose.

In any case if your clinic is the cheapest that is pretty good.
I don't know about prices changing but Fertility2u said the 150iu vials had been out of stock for a while (just meant I got two 75iu vials per day, no price difference).

Is the Menopur for a man? I've heard of it being used for men and no idea what dosage they would have.

Sounds about right - my daily dose was the maximum 450 of menopur and it come to 2k with the frymedal, pessaries etc

Sorry I had misread as £2k for the Menopur alone rather than the cycle meds.

Hi - thanks for responding. It was just menopur working out at that cost, but I think maybe I’ve estimated the incorrect amount I need to get. The vial is 1200, but I only need 350 per dose x 8 apparently. I thought I had to get 12 x 1200 vials which was coming to a crazy amount.
