PCOS & Metformin

I’ve been prescribed metformin as I’m ttc for over 2 years with PCOS. I’m waiting for my blood results tomorrow for my kidney check before I can start taking it, but has anyone got any hints/tips/success stories from taking it? I’m fully prepared for the bad stomach, I’d do anything to have a baby in my arms right now. Will it help with weight loss? My weight is entirely stagnant no matter what I try. Thanks Smile

It might not help with weight loss but it might. It does help with TTC though as they prescribe it during ivf cycles.

Make sure you take it with food and if youre on more than one tablet spread them across your meals. When I first started I was on one tablet a day with breakfast, then a week later I introduced an extra tablet that I took with my lunch.

I was ttc for over a year, have PCOS and irregular periods. I was put onto metformin and had a positive test after 2 months of taking it. Good luck hope it works for you!

Yeah my doctor has prescribed it as 3 tablets spread through the day, starting with one tablet at dinner time and building up over three weeks

@HironsBirons are your periods irregular? Watch for them starting to regulate when you take it. I noticed a difference on the first cycle and the cycle I conceived I ovulated exactly on day 14 which had never happened in the whole year of tracking I did before. It was pretty amazing to see really!

They’re non-existent just now. I take provera to induce a bleed every 3 months. I’m hoping that they come back though! I’ve ordered an Ovusense monitor too, so I can see if it helps me to ovulate
