No bleed after taking norethisterone

I wondered if anyone has had this happen - I took norethisterone for 7 days to induce a period so I can start ivf. My last day of taking it was 9 days ago and still no period... a couple of days ago I had some spotting but it was definitely not a period. Pregnancy tests are negative.

My clinic said to wait a few days when I asked them around day 5 after stopping taking it.

Has anyone else ever had this happen? Not sure what to do

@OhPeanuts hmm I think you are still within normal range, it can take up to 2 weeks. When I took it AF came within 5 days of stopping but I was only on 2 tablets a day. What was your dose?

@TTCIVF thank you! I didn’t realise it could take so long. My clinic had said 3-5 days is normal so I thought there was something going wrong with me.

I was on 3 tablets a day. 2 weeks feels like such a long wait . I am getting impatient to start so it’s annoying. Thank you for your help though!

@OhPeanuts I was on 2 tablets for 10 days so it is probably the higher dose taking longer to leave your system - hope AF turns up for you soon, I know how frustrating all the waiting is!

I am taking northesterone 5mg 3x a day for 5 days

When would i bleed ? Its to induce my period for ivf

It’s meant to be 3-5 days after you stop taking it. For me it didn’t work for some reason and my period came when it would have come anyway but for most people you would expect to have a bleed 3-5 days after.
