FET questions

Hi all, I hope you're well! I'm hoping to hear your experiences with minimally medicated (tablets only) FETs.
My husband and I did our first round of IVF last month, but ended up not having a fresh transfer and instead freezing all of our embryos due to risk of OHSS.
We are now heading into our FET cycle. I started my period this week and have started estrogen (Progynova) tablets. I will not be doing Lupron injections at any point.
My next appointment and scan at the clinic is now on CD16, in just under two weeks! Is this normal? Is there no chance we could miss the right time to transfer if the appointment is so far down the line? Does the estrogen suppress natural ovulation?
Thanks for your thoughts :)

Hi I’ve only done FET with down regulation before but I’ve looked into the other types of FET and with the shorter protocols which start with progynova, the high level of oestrogen is meant to suppress natural ovulation. Good luck with your cycle x

Hi @WaitingToExpect20. I was on progynova and then crinone 5days before transfer. My lining took longer to thicken so my transfer was CD 23 - which I think I a little later than normal but obviously still ok timeframe.

Hi ladies, thank you for your reassurance. I think after the close monitoring during the IVF cycle, it just feels weird to go to the clinic so much less this time round.

@WaitingToExpect20 yea it’s very different. One scan is maybe even the norm and if lining ok then the transfer is booked in. My dose was increased at my first scan as my lining wasn’t ready so I had a second scan and then booked in for transfer. It feels very hands off. Even that my husband wasn’t involved and wasn’t allowed in for the transfer so I just went alone.

I’m part way through a fully medicated FET. The consultant explained this week that the progynova tricks your body into thinking your ovaries are working hard when they’re actually quite quiet, so you don’t ovulate.

I had a baseline scan to check everything was quiet after downregulation, then a lining scan 12 days later. My lining was ok so transfer was booked in for 7 days after the second scan.

This compares to the eight scans I had during stimms, it’s much less stressful!
