Fertility tests private vs NHS

Hi. Looking for some much needed advice?!
I have had my bloods test done - came back normal.
My husband was suppose to have his semen analysis done a month ago, they postponed it and now have stopped it because of Covid.
I’m thinking about getting the tests down private because I’m now worried there just going to keep pushing it back!
Is it worth going private & if we needed ivf could we still be referred for it on the NHS if we’ve had the tests done private.

Background - TTC for 2 years, had a miscarriage back in November - not conceived since.

Going private will 100% be quicker - most NHS will accept a private sample report and vice verse but sperm tests do tend to expire quicker than other tests - usually about 3 months or so - max 6 months so depending on timelines with the NHS he might need to redo it anyway
