Are the fertility clinic taking advantage?

Good morning ladies

So I had a hysterosocopy scheduled yesterday. During my initial consultation I had said that I wanted to visualise a possible blocked tube and a suspected polyp, and to see if anything else was there to prevent conception or IVF success. I signed a form saying that if the op was abandoned I would get 50 percent back of my paid appointment. I also requested a D and C and they said that was a standard during a hysterosocopy.

I paid 2000 for procedure and 450 for anaesthetic. Fast forward two hours. I woke up and I was told by the doctor they had not been able to get the camera in after several attempts due to tight cervix (I have had hysterosocopy before and given birth) and they did a Manual Vacum Aspiration, and have sent off tissue for sampling. I understand that a MVA is the same as a D and C?

I was still groggy from the op when the doc spoke to me. I called thr nurse back and said I would like my 50 percent to be returned. She said that won't be possible and asked the doctor to speak to me again. The doctor came and said we removed the polyp and cleaned the uterus so the procedure was successful. As a top up he booked me in for a HysCosy next week free of charge to check if the tube is still blocked and visualise any scar tissue.

Are they taking advantage? Should I demand my money back?

What do I do?

I'm not sure how he removed the polyp if he wasn't able to visualise it. Or does a MVA do that anyway?

So confused and feel like I've spent a lot of money.
